Around 3 months ago, i posted a small preview of what could be to come in future recruiting battles and possible players that could be targeted. Well, long story short, times have changed hugely and the recruiting class could look alot differant then what it seemed a few months ago. For example, Texas has lost ground with a few guys such as ATH Soso Jamabo and QB Chason Virgil, but has also risen up the lists for guys such as LB Malik Jefferson, DB Kendall Sheffield and has received a few unexpected commitments.
Lets begin at quarterback where just today texas has locked up a commitment from 4 star pocket passer Zach Gentry. At 6'7 235 pounds, he reminds me of a more polished version of Blake Bell. Incase the Max Wittek situation doesnt pan out, they may be looking to add another quarterback to the mix which would be either Kai Locksley or a more realistic option in ATH JW Ketcham who is practicly a lock, but could serve better playing another position. Lets move on to Running Back, where it seems like its going to a huge class considering they already have commitments from Jordan Stevenson, Triston Housten, and Kirk Johnson and could easily take Chris Warren and despite the fact hes listed as an ATH his true calling is at RB. At wide receiver, everything seems to be headed in the right direction. Despite the fact theyve missed out out on Demarkus Lodge, many experts are predicting that Kemah Siverrand is favoriting Texas along with Ryan Newsome and Louisanna standout John Burt. Now to the trenches where recent commitments from Ronnie Major and Toby Weathersbuy go along with Patrick Vahe. Stay tuned for part two where i update recruiting on the defensive side of the ball, and part 3 where i predict the final texas longhorns class.
