WR/ATH Peyton Powell no longer committed to Texas

NCAA Football: Baylor at Texas John Gutierrez-USA TODAY Sports

The SPARQ monster and the highest rated recruit in the Permian basin will try his future elsewhere. The Longhorn staff didn’t like Powell taking additional visits and there seemed to be a mutual parting of ways as with previous WR commitment Demariyon Houston. Powell is an intriguing athlete who played QB for most of his career, but most see him as a future WR or perhaps even a CB. Powell may not have fully made the mental transition to embrace that role change yet and some suitors may be playing on that.

Expect to see him sign with Tech, Baylor or TCU.

Finding viable wide receivers in the state of Texas is generally fish in a barrel, so finding an adequate replacement shouldn’t be a problem.

Melissa’s Kennedy Lewis seems like a likely candidate.
