The University of Houston has interviewed three candidates thus far for their head coaching position.
The UH athletic director met with OU co-offensive coordinator Kevin Sumlin yesterday and has interviewed Notre Dame offensive coordinator Michael Haywood and old guy Jack Pardee.
Sumlin would be my pick. Haywood would actually have to recruit the city of Houston if he became the Cougars' coach (yeah, I'm still bitter), and Pardee has been out of coaching for over a decade. Or longer depending on how you view his hands off style.
Interesting note in the Chronicle story. The team is practicing under interim coach Chris Thurmond, and had their first bowl practice yesterday. It "featured the first live hitting since Briles took over the program in 2003."
Houston's total defense rankings under Briles: 101, 78, 76, 72 and 49.
Coincidence?
