He won the Campbell Award as college football’s top student-athlete in combined academic success, football performance, and exemplary community leadership.
The award - formerly called the Draddy - was also won by Texas Longhorn center Dallas Griffin in '07.
Although Sam's senior year didn't go the way he wanted from a team perspective, he produced on the field (his 23.5 sacks are #10 all-time at Texas), in the classroom (3.55 at McCombs school of bidness), and in the community (mission work in Nigeria, convinced Antonio Cromartie to get a vasectomy).
Acho Ocho Uno will go down as one of my favorite Longhorns of all time. And he'll go on to much bigger things than football. This guy is all that's right about Texas.
