Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?
If you’re a Texas Longhorns fan and also a fan of defense, you have to be loving this year’s team. Despite just missing out on a number one ranking, this iteration of the Longhorns has the potential of a number one seed come tourney time, and if things break right, a Final Four/Championship appearance. In Houston. Of course, it was Longhorn legend Darrell Royal that loved to quote "luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity," so let’s take a look at how Texas manufactures its "luck."
First, check out Texas’ Four Factors profile courtesy of Huckleberry's very own American Idol, Ken Pomeroy.
They currently rank #1 in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency at 82.3. That’s almost 4 points higher than the next team (the Chris Singleton-led FSU squad), and 18 points higher than the D-1 average (Northern Iowa, for example). Boy, that’s pretty good, you say. Almost as good as telling me that LeBron James leads the NBA in PER! But what does it really mean?
