My thoughts:

  • The Ohio Bobcats are no longer ranked after a conference loss to mighty Miami of Ohio. TAKE THAT HIPSTER VOTERS
  • The bloggers think much more highly of Boise State than I do. Their signature game was a LOSS to a 5-4 Michigan State team that's currently sub .500 in the miserable Big 10. Their big win a 7-6 snoozer over BYU. It is kind of cool that Boise State has raised its profile in the last decade such that they're getting automatic respect votes
  • The bloggers don't have Texas ranked. And that's fair. We're just gonna love on our kids because the fans and media don't like 'em much and...sorry. I just went into it
  • The bloggers also ranked Nebraska, but I'll pass. The overall quality of the Big 10 is poor

Here's my ballot:

My ballot:

  • Does coaching matter? Ohio State is 9-0. Last year, they were 6-7. Yes, coaching matters. And Buckeye players pronounced as useless last year are now solid contributors and superstars
  • I ranked Texas. Our resume is actually bottom of Top 25 worthy, even with the OU disgrace - the BCS rankings bear that out. Also: it's funny
  • Love the scrappy Arizona Wildcats. They take a beating at the hands of Oregon and follow that with a 3 point loss to Oregon State, a loss in OT to Stanford, they blowout Washington, and then take down USC. Scrappy, tough little football team. RichRod has found his comfort zone
  • Had a lot of trouble ranking Notre Dame vs. Oregon vs. Kansas State. Each team has unique, distinct strengths and obvious weaknesses, but Oregon strikes me as the most complete team of the three and so earns my #2 ranking. The back end of their schedule (USC, Oregon State, Stanford) will tell us a great deal about the Ducks
As always, interested in your thoughts.
