2013 power forward Julius Randle, the top recruiting target on the Texas Longhorns 2013 big board, will be sidelined three months after breaking his foot over the weekend. He was injured participating in Dallas' Thanksgiving Hoopfest, a basketball event bringing together most of the top teams in the region.
Randle, who plays from Plano (Tex.) Prestonwood Christian, will miss most, if not all, of his high school team's basketball season. It's another blow for the Titans, who won the TAPPS 5A State Championship last year. Prestonwood Christian lost star forward Mickey Mitchell, a five-star recruit in the 2015 class, when Mitchell tore his ACL playing quarterback. Mitchell's older brother is Mike Mitchell, a well-regarded linebacker in the 2013 class.
Right now, Randle is targeting a return for the playoffs, though that remains uncertain. He should be fine by the time the post-season all-star circuit comes around, as Randle is a McDonald's All-American lock.
Aside from Texas, Randle is also considering the Florida Gators, Kentucky Wildcats, N.C. State Wolfpack, Kansas Jayhawks, and Oklahoma Sooners.
