If you want Apple from their stores directly, you'll have to wait a bit for it to pass their verifications.

Regular old computer users - keep reading. We've got solutions for you, too.

Thinking Texas Football is nearly 37,000 words of Longhorn football goodness (not to mention Big 12 analysis and opponent breakdowns). We're proud of what the book offers in terms of quality and clarity of writing, analytics, humor, beautiful photos, graphics, and comprehensive analysis.

We think you'll revisit this book throughout 2013. And that it will make your game day even more enjoyable.

Please share your enthusiasm.

One of the most gratifying things for me is to recommend a book, film, or restaurant and get back a sincere thanks - even from people I don't know. It's my favorite form of social capital. It reconfirms that there are like-minded people out there who appreciate the same things you do.

We've done the hard part (after a lot of late evenings, working vacations, irritated girlfriends, and lost weekends) and it was all worth it, but this book can't succeed without YOU. This is a niche book targeted at a narrow audience, but that Longhorn audience is smart, passionate, unique, and in our estimation, yearning for this sort of content. But if you just enjoy it and don't talk about it, we're sunk.

So when/if you love this book and can't imagine a better way to spend $9.99, PLEASE...

  • like it on Facebook
  • talk about it on Twitter
  • recommend it to friends and family (or, you know, buy 20 and surprise your Burnt Orange inner circle)
  • tell your local Texas-Exes chapter or your local Longhorn lunch bunch/meeting group
  • make a post about it on your favorite BBS
  • review it positively at your preferred retailer (Amazon, B&N, Smashwords etc)

I have an e-reader (Kindle, Nook, iPad, Sony...)

Smashwords has a compatible epub format for Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Google, Sony, et al as well as for computer users who want to read it through a free viewing program. If you buy at the site directly - at the same cost to you as anywhere else - you help us by giving us a significantly more favorable cut on royalties. Read this brief FAQ.

If you don't want to deal with the 30 seconds needed to register and prefer to buy it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Apple (maybe you've got a gift certificate burning a hole in your pocket), no problem! - and we thank you just the same! But know that some places like Apple or B&N can take a while to load directly to the retailer as they submit our book to their byzantine processes. Smashwords is an immediate solution for that delay.

I just have a computer. Is there a way to read this without an e-book reading device?

YES! No worries. The book is still available to you in a great format. Right there on your computer screen. We're going to walk you through this. You have two options:

OPTION 1
  • Go to Smashwords. Buy the book. Go here. Download the free Adobe Digital Reader 2.0 for Mac or PC.
  • After You've Installed Digital Editions, you'll need to add the book to your library:

Add-file_medium

Double click and read into the sunset.

OPTION 2

If you can read this post, you can read this book. If you have any technical questions, email Sailor Ripley (sailorripley AT barkingcarnival DOT COM). He will walk you through how to get it.

Finally, thank you. It means a lot to us to be supported by such a diverse, sharp, and amusing group of readers. We simply ask that if you read the book and like it, please let others know about it.

Happy reading.
