I am a Junior at UT. I have pretty decent tickets in Section 26 (which is in the northeast corner of the stadium). My friends and I arrived at the game about 15 minutes prior to kickoff. With 5 minutes to kickoff, entire rows of the student section that were close to the field sat empty. The stadium was probably at 1/4 capacity.

So my friends and I, along with a mass of students, stroll down and sit on about the 5th row on the 35 yard line. Everything was awesome. It was pouring, but we didn't care. No one came and told us or anyone that I could see around me that we were sitting in their seats. If someone would've said something, I would've gladly just moved up the next empty spot.

But, lo and behold, the event staff is sent out in the middle of the first quarter, in the rain, and starts checking the first couple rows of students for their tickets. (Warning: all caps ahead). THEY SENT THE FUCKING EVENT STAFF OUT IN THE RAIN TO CHECK DRIPPING WET, FOOTBALL CRAZED STUDENTS FOR TICKETS.

The best part? After they moved all the students back to their assigned seats, there was just a gaping hole in the first couple rows of the student section. No one came to claim those seats. I can understand if there were entire rows of people complaining to the staff about their seats being taken, but this DIDNT HAPPEN. If that was the case, my seat would've been gone when I came back 10 minutes later and sat right back down in the same spot.

Let me be clear. If Texas Athletics is going to tell me, a student who pays $245 a year to have the privilege to come and support the team, to move back to my assigned seat as I am in the process of screaming myself silly in the pouring rain, then they deserve the currently wilting support they are getting from fans. They deserve to have 15,000 tickets left every game, and they deserve a tired, dispassionate fanbase. Until you can get the value of fan loyalty and devotion through your tiny brain, FUCK YOU Texas Athletics.

TL;DR: Texas Athletics is a disgrace for checking tickets of students who moved down to unclaimed seats to be closer to the action in a rain storm.
