Texas Longhorns basketball inks three in early signing period

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Longhorns basketball program officially welcomes three 2017 recruits to its class today.

Jericho Sims from Cristo Rey Jesuit (Minneapolis) has signed.

Royce Hamm from Aldine Davis (Houston) has signed.

Jase Febres from Westfield (Houston) has signed.

These three signings likely conclude Texas hoops recruiting activity for the fall. Texas remains in the hunt for recent official visitors Matt Coleman and Mohamed Bamba. Coleman is torn between Duke and Texas. Currently, he plans to delay his decision until the regular signing period. Bamba's recruitment is a mystery. He has taken official visits to Michigan and Texas, but recruitniks feel he will end up at Kentucky or Duke. Texas will also continue to recruit Houstonian Jarred Vanderbilt, who has two official visits left and likely won't make a decision until the spring.

At one point, Texas had a few uncommitted prospects lined up for official visits this weekend, including Charles O' Bannon Jr., P.J. Washington, Rayshaun Hammonds, and Shai Alexander. None of those prospects are expected in and have essentially eliminated Texas.
