The Longhorn signal caller has a bruised throwing shoulder and won’t practice early in the week so he can recover. Sam Ehlinger will get the snaps with the 1s and Jerrod Heard will back him up.
The Longhorns put the ball in Shane’s hands 68 times on Saturday - 15 of them rushes. He was also sacked five times and hit several other times on pressures. You could see the velocity on his ball diminish late in the game and this was the likely culprit.
#7 will be evaluated later in the week to see if he can go against San Jose State.
Herman reaffirmed that Shane is the starting QB unless injury prevents it.
