Sssssnope, vol. 2: Entirely Avoidable Boogaloo

NCAA Basketball: Kansas State at Texas Stephen Spillman-USA TODAY Sports

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Kerwin Roach II has been suspended for the Oklahoma Sooners game due to a violation of team rules. Nobody is saying what the issue is publicly, you can draw your own conclusions as to what it might be.

If you want my feelings on this; it’s disappointment and annoyance, but not surprise. Roach seems like a nice young man but he has now been suspended at least three times that I can recall, none of them for particularly nefarious things but more of the “I don’t really care, but come on, man” variety. He’s not Aaron Hernandez or The Punisher, he’s not enacting real-life Dexter cosplay or making suits out of human hair. But at the same time, he’s 34 of the way through his senior season; it’s so far beyond the time to be a responsible person it’s not even funny. He talks about wanting to be a team leader but he’s still doing freshman bullshit. We’re less than four months removed from the last suspension and he still hasn’t learned a damn thing. I don’t know how long the suspension will last - the timetable is vaguely listed as ‘unknown’ - and I’m honestly fine with whatever the coaches choose to make it despite what it does to the season’s outlook. The accountability lesson at this point is less for him and more for the guys behind him; they need to see that everybody is accountable to the coaches and their teammates.

In summary:
