Southwest Classic

So the Aggies and Razorbacks are set to play this October in Dallas at the new Cowboys Stadium. It's the first of a ten year series. Exciting! And what better way to generate excitement than unveiling a logo for the event? Well there are a lot of better ways actually. For one they could have gotten two better teams. Like Texas vs LSU. Or even one better team. Like Arkansas vs TCU. Or A&M; vs LSU. Where

Cobi Hamilton

Posted by Scipio Tex on January 26th, 2009 under Football

We had four three visitors in last weekend. At this point, three two of them (CB Dre Kirkpatrick, LB Jarvis Jones) appear to be longshots, but the visitor that intrigued me is Texarkana WR Cobi Hamilton. We were late getting into the game on Hamilton, which is unfortunate, because after viewing his film and reading up on him, he's the most intriguing WR prospect in the state. The Razorbacks have

Separated at birth? You decide. Don't miss Trips Rights excellent game breakdown here . . . John Pelphrey just out Rick Barnes'd Rick Barnes. What the hey does that mean, you ask? He took down a superior opponent with ugly basketball, selectively good defense (on AJ), and timely mistakes by the other team. This is not the type of game we normally lose.

Thoughts on the loss (Texas Longhorns @ Arkansas Razorbacks)

Posted by Trips Right on January 6th, 2009 under Basketball

I don't know that I want to go in depth on this thing right now because I'm sick to my stomach. The first half played out exactly as expected. When Texas made the extra pass and got Arkansas a couple of help rotations deep into a shot clock, Texas got dunks and layups. When Texas took quick jumpers Arkansas got run outs and easy points. Defensively, Texas did a terrific job

Halftime Thoughts on the Basketball Game (Texas Longhorns @ Arkansas Razorbacks)

Posted by Trips Right on January 6th, 2009 under Basketball

The game is playing out exactly as discussed in the preview. Offensively, if Texas moves the ball and makes the extra pass they'll get dunks and layups. If they settle for jumpers early in the shot clock, it plays right into Arkansas' hands with runouts and layups. Essentially the more passing and rotation that Texas has in a given possession, the better the shot. Simple. Arkansas is too young and

Quick Preview of the Texas/Arkansas Basketball Game tonight

First a little background on the the Razorbacks. They're led by the inside/outside tandem of junior C/F Michael Washington and freshman point guard Courtney Fortson. Washington is a strong athletic man-child who has excelled finishing inside this year as evidenced by his 61% field goal percentage. He was 10-12 from the field vs. Oklahoma's talented frontcourt, and outplayed surefire lottery pick Blake Griffin.

Washington's size can give

Longhorns Record as a Regular Season #1

Posted by srr50 on October 12th, 2008 under Football

Here's a piece of trivia that will only be good to use until Saturday (I think). The first game Texas lined up as the #1 team in the nation during the regular season and the last regular season game that the Horns entered as the top team in the nation have both ended in a tie. In 1941 Texas was the newly minted #1 when the Horns were held to a 7-7 by Baylor in Waco. The

Texas/Arkansas Football Post-Mortem

DKR Varmint Eradication Program Mack Brown has a gift for attracting celebrity. This weekend was no different. Steve Zissou graced our sideline. I dig Bill Murray and I am a big fan of his work. Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Rushmore, Lost in Translation. I even liked The Razor's Edge. Speaking of razors, can someone send Jack Arute a Schick Quattro? Bathing your mouth in super-glue and having

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - Arkansas

Saturday, September 27, 2025 - Texas 52, Arkansas 10

Our football team is getting better by leaps and bounds, and the first play from scrimmage yesterday exemplified one major reason why. On that play, Arkansas attempted a little reverse, and Brian Orakpo, rather than following the initial fake and running himself out of the play as
