Kevin Durant: “Be True To Your School”

Posted by srr50 on October 19th, 2009 under Basketball

Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder will plays San Antonio in the Frank Erwin Center Tuesday night, and Durant cannot wait to come home.

Durant told the Daily Oklahoman that since there is no shoot around Tuesday morning, he will spend his time on campus.

I’m going to the gym to see the guys,” Durant said. “I’ll go see the people in academics. Go to the basketball office. I just might carry my game clothes to the gym because I might be there for the whole day.”

The kid truly sees his one year on campus as a life-changing event, and he intends to keep his ties for the rest of his life.

If any of you who frequent BC still want to rant about retiring the number of a one-and-done player needs to go somewhere else, or risk having Trips Right go postal on you.

What a great representative of the University.

  3. Drew Melchionni’s way better than Shawn Williams

    at least at 3 points

Hey stop that shit , you know IP is almost right, but Shawn is his man. You should respect his selections as IP has great input / insight from his magic 8 ball.

  5. Boddicker hit the three way better. And at least he stayed around to get the REAL Texas experience.

I have a feeling he’ll finish his degree one day, though goodness knows he’ll probably never need it. He deserves the experience of earning the degree, and I mean that in the best way possible. Classy guy.

  7. I love the idea that the Oklahoma media is pinning its hopes on Durant sticking around after he puts in enough time to be a free agent because he is so loyal.

Just see how loyal he is to Oklahoma City if Mark Cuban puts in an offer.

  8. KD is a true Longhorn…saw him being interviewed in Dallas during the OU game. The kid has done nothing but represent the University with distinction and to raise the profile of our hoops program. Love the guy.

  9. He is awesome. Thanks TJ.

  11. yeah, I just keep trying to figure out some miracle whereby the Spurs end up with him…

I love how he loves us….

  12. um… and by “us” of course, that’s the Horns, not the Spurs… just in case that was unclear.

Just thinking though… who makes you the happiest that they chose to come to Texas? I think other than Vince, it might be Kevin. Great, albeit short, career, and continues to be an absolutely great ambassador for the University.

That wasn’t you on 1560 this morning talking Longhorns was it Bob?

  14. no… why? Someone else yearn for Durant in the silver and black?

I just think he was born to be a Spur - by the time it all would happen, who knows what exactly they’ll be. But tell the truth, would you not just love to see Durant play with Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili? The thing about those guys is that what they do is just not captured by any set of existing statistics. They just seem to do what the team needs most at the right time…. sound like anyone we saw for a year on the 40 acres?

  15. KD is the man.

I’m not optimistic, but that doesn’t mean I don’t root for the Tigers.

Re competing with the Longhorns, I haven’t been blown away by UT. I think if they play poorly and a team of Mizzou’s caliber plays very well, it could be a

I don’t know whether or not he can catch a football, but he has a similar body type to Michael Crabtree (who was also a QB in high school thought of as an Athlete). Cobbs is well built, has long arms, broad shoulders suggesting plenty of room for weight gain on his frame, shows

    Magnus –

I don’t think race plays much of a role with the Heisman. I DO think it plays some role in the size of the collective sports media boner for Tebow, as versus the much smaller boner that popped up for VY.

    I get your point, overall.

  • Huckleberry commented on the blog post Tim Tebow = Vince Young 2 hours, 27 minutes ago

I think another huge difference is that most of you are UT fans. Before you freak out and talk about Vince Young being Babe Ruth or whatever, just pause for a second and think about how Florida fans probably feel about Tebow…..You think VY is transcendent because he helped your school win the NC, be

I’ve seen silverback gorillas that don’t have the arm length : body height ration as this guy.

Hell, I’ve seen a lot of animals, primates or not, that don’t have the same arm length : body height ratio as Cobbs. Snails are one example. And trout.

We need a predictions forum where each topic is catalogued and we can come back years later and see who is right.

Sample question: Which position does Demarco Cobb play in college?
    a. wr
    b. safety
    c. olb
    d. other-write in.

I think you try and get him the ball, not take it away. If I had to guess today

We do, of course. I’ve recently become aware that there is a segment of fans, those who claim to love the lovable Missouri Tigers, that do not want to win the North. I am shocked, appalled, dismayed, and saddened by such a thought. Dave Matter, the Pied Piper of a large number

Seems like the 4.7 he ran was on a slow track in borrowed shoes, according to a bunch of other recruiting boards. He has also run quite a few 4.5s and rally fast 10.4 100s.. And he is a legit 6′1″ and 200 lbs. Sounds like a receiver to me.

The performance last week against Kansas gives a good indication of what the rest of the season will probably look like. A DOMINANT defense that gives up very few points, takes the ball away a couple times a game and frustrates really good quarterbacks and an offense that struggles with consistency, doesn’t move the
