I just heard Mitch Albom say that the SEC Championship game was effectively the national championship game. Mitch has spent too many Tuesdays with Morrie and Saturdays at the all-male spa instead of watching football, namely the Texas defense.
Should be a common refrain over the next few weeks. OK by me.

I haven’t been everywhere, that’s for sure. I’ve been to Norman, Stillwater, Austin, College Station, the Hilltop, TCU, Boulder, Eugene, U-Dub, Lubbock, Blacksburg and four BCS title games.
Notwithstanding my favorite day of the year in October at the Cotton Bowl, Lincoln, Nebraska this weekend was hands down the best game day experience and fans

@parlin: You know, I had almost forgotten that Landry Jones had almost made it 7 INTs. FWIW, I wasn’t going for irony when I referred to the hometown of the safety. It was more like “THIS is the guy we made look like a superhero? THIS GUY?” I was trying

This is the lowest point in the Stoops era without question.
Landry Jones is not good enough to play quarterback at Oklahoma. You have to go back to days of Eric Moore and Kelly Phelps to see such horrible quarterback play at OU. That performance last night was sub-Garrick McGee, sub-Justin Fuente,

Personal foul by Randall ruined a very nice forced fumble and recovery that would have been our only TO recovery.

I’ve seen it said elsewhere that the 4-2-5 was the root of the problem yesterday – KSUck killed us with the run, and 6 men in the box wasn’t going to stop that.
The meltdown going on over at KUSports (yeah, I know it’s not well thought of, but it’s entertaining reading in its own way)

When I lived in the bay area and Harbaugh took the Stanford job, they all knew he would be gone within five years; either he would suck and be replaced or move on to greener pastures.
I’d move tOSU up simply because they look like the best team in the Big 10, and maybe Tressel will

@ransom,
If I were them I’d be worried about how to cover Williams, Goodwin, and Shipley at the same time on the 25% of snaps we’ll be smart enough to have them on the field together.

Heh. Cody Johnson is a man. I’m convinced that our offensive line is too bad for us to consistently run it. And I don’t buy the theory that a line that usually pass blocks can’t comfortably switch to run blocking. Some of it is surely scheme — who the hell knows

Boise and Cincy may both finish 12-0 and get invitations to BCS and other major bowl games, but no one will any longer labor under the illusion they actually belong there.
Actually, this is wrong thanks to Bob Stoops.

Greg Davis does not value the running game, and his efforts to “address” it are half-hearted and do not even begin to address the real schematic issues.

Good luck ranking anyone past #5. The transitive property is pretty useless at this stage and delineating 2-3 loss teams vs 0-1 loss teams who haven’t played anyone isn’t easy for any voter who isn’t just mailing it in.

Well, things in college football are beginning to shake out a little earlier than usual, aren’t they? I mean, most years we have to wait until the last week or two of the season to really know who the best 3 or 4 teams in the country truly are. Most years, you don’t have a

I wouldn’t say the talent level is lower. From this team alone, Kindle, Thomas, and AJ Williams could all go in the top ten picks in the draft when they go pro (hopefully . Houston could be a first rounder and Muck is certainly first day this year. Curtis Brown will be a first day

I was there twice last year… unfortunately didn’t make it to Mr. B’s…one of my favorites from back in the day. Anione’s was trrrrribl… really hit rock bottom. I walked by and saw a guy in shorts in the main dining room. Brunch at the Court of Two Sisters was also very bad.
Heard good things about Dickie Brennan’s House of Bourbon… won’t be going back. BBQ shrimp was very mild. Decent bourbon, though.
Nice soft shell at the Commander’s Palace but I think my salad had Bac-Os (not kidding). But the drinks were OUTSTANDING.
Best meal was at Emril’s Delmonico - good steak, good BBQ shrimp.
It’s a shame what’s happened to the Brennans. I guess only Mr. B’s is any good these days.
