If Longhorn nation was an actual nation, its students and alums would rank 7th in the world in the total gold medal haul.

Some of the most notable performances were from Kevin Durant, who scored 30 for Team USA in the championship game against Serbia, characteristic Longhorn dominance in swimming (Conger, Schooling, Haas), a strong women’s track showing and spectacular final throw efforts from Ryan Crouser (Olympic record) and Michelle Carter (American record) in the shotput.

Perhaps the most rewarded Longhorn athlete at the Rio Olympics was native Singaporean Joseph Schooling, whose gold medal win secured him a $750,000 check from the Singaporean government.
