Bowman is one of my favorite players in the 2021 class. It’s clear that the Texas coaches are lining up their 2020 and 2021 commitments before Fall camp starts so they can bring their full attention and focusness to a promising 2019 season. Expect more recruiting fireworks soon. THATS A HINT.
Bowman’s instincts for the game are special and his offer list reflects it.
The sensational multifaceted athlete (he was a 1st team all-state cornerback at Denton Ryan as a sophomore, is a dangerous punt and kick returner, starts at wide receiver) and a three sport star (football, track, basketball) committed to the Texas Longhorns, bringing the 2021 class to six athletes total. The district Co-MVP as a sophomore, Bowman is currently rated as a Top 15 player in the state of Texas. Expect that status to hold or improve. He has recorded a verified 10.8 100 meters as a sophomore and self-reports a sub 4.5 40 yard dash. With two more years to go before he even sees college.
Bowman goes around 5-9, 175 but his dynamism with the ball, acceleration, instincts and arm length allow him to play much larger than his size suggests. Of the five interceptions he grabbed in 2018, three were brought back for touchdowns. On offense, Bowman scored 8 touchdowns. Bowman was a 2021 Texas Longhorn class priority and the only dilemma the coaches have now is which side of the ball he should play. He’s a terrific candidate for nickel/cornerback or at slot receiver. Rest assured he will be returning kicks.
I’ll vote defense for Bowman as I see a Honey Badger starter kit, but for now Longhorns are just happy to have him wearing Burnt Orange.
