It’s official.
Texas is 1-2 in Holiday Bowls under Brown.
Texas and Arizona State have never played before.

I have a number of corrections on this article.
We have at least 20 trees. Maybe 30. Bitch.
Biggest oversight of the article is Juco transfer WR Cameron Kenney. Imagine a guy who can consistently send a rugby style punt 40 yards with good air and run a 4.5 40. Anytime

In all honesty, Texas should not be in the BCS Championship if we don’t go undefeated. Our only two games of consequence got somewhat and significantly (for OU & OSU) easier in the last week or so. We play no one else with a pulse the entire year.
Not that I think an

CTJ: I see your point now. I guess what I was getting at was that I’m setting the odds low at Texas getting in the MNC game with one loss, and at one hundred percent if we don’t lose. To the extent anything can happen, you’ve got a point — might as well knock Boise

How about 2007, BON? Would you have seen it then? Or is your point that a 2-loss LSU team would have jumped both schools too?

I will root for Oregon because I appreciate the motocross aesthetic of their uniforms. No college football uniform is complete without a patch or two of faux diamond plate steel.

I really don’t see it. At all.
If Texas wins out, there’s absolutely no way Boise State leaps us. If we lose a game, our own schedule all but assures we won’t be playing in Pasadena.

After the hose-job Texas got last year for OU’s benefit, I don’t think there’s any way in hell that OU moves ahead of us on ’sentiment’ this time around. We beat their asses in October and take care of business, we’re in the title game – weak schedule be damned.

I’m not sure my eyes can handle the Oregon uniforms on the bright blue turf. I will be opting for low-def to dull the pain.

The turf alone is reason enough to hate, in my book.

Beyond this just being a fun game to kick off the 2009 College Football season, it really actually matters to us a great deal more than it should.
Let’s look at the surface level stuff:
-Oregon is a respected program that is ranked within the preseason top 20 of both polls.
-Oregon plays in the PAC

First of all, I’m sure OU was really upset about Blaines injury. Secondly, pontificating on beating an ou team without Gresham and the media looking down on it is ridiculous. The cart goes first.

I guess I think the scenario where we get pushed out of the title game because there’s a sentiment out there among voters that we lucked out by not playing Gresham is specious to me. That is walking a very thin line a very long way.

You typically go with the team that wants to be there. ASU had a chance at an @large and feels cheated by Hawaii. But it’s a step up for their program. I’m betting on Mack Brown to have Texas more apathetic than the competition.

ASU was 38th in Pass O this past year averaging 250+ per game. We’ll give them 375-400 at least.
They were 67th in Rush O with 145+ per game. We’ll hold them to 115 and Mack will declare that to be significant.
They’re 27th in Total D with Rush D being their strong suit (13th). The PAC10 isn’t as pass happy as it used to be so this does not bode well for Texas.

We lost to Oregon, thanks to poor defense and a series of dropped passes in the endzone. The Holiday Bowl we won was against Washington.

Should we lose this game, we can bet that one of the things Mack will say after the game is “We didn’t think they would X”, which will most assuredly be something predicted in pre-game media and fan analysis, as well as something we’d expect they could make halftime adjustments to overcome.

Okay, I agree that we can safely say that our defense is nothing short of horrid; our offense is generally meek and shows no signs of vinegar or salt or any other delicious flavor of chip - BUT Central Florida is a good football team. Not hang-within-a-touchdown-of-Texas good I’ll grant you (or at least they shouldn’t be) but they’re 10-3, confrence champs boasting the 2nd most prolific rusher in a single season in NCAA history. Can we please stop dogging them as some piss-poor baylor-esque victory and give the coaches and players a pass on this one? They beat a worthy opponent. Not the sort of the thing that you’d want to hang your wang on (unless you’re echeese); but neither do I think they should be grouped together with the also-rans in such a hap-hazard manner. There I said it. I feel better.

BC should set up a prediction poll for the post-game presser when Mack Brown says “We didn’t expect them to …”
- Blitz
- Block
- Throw the ball
- Pass the ball
- Defend the run
- Defend the pass
- Punt
- Not do something stupid late in the game which has often allowed us to win a game we shouldn’t
- See our Desert Swarm homage to ‘effective college defenses of the ’80s’ coming. In retrospect, that was probably a bad call on the part of my new associate-head-defensive-coach-with-absolutely-no -input-into-the-game-plans-and-shut-up-about-the-linebackers-already.
- Have so many hot little baby dolls. Tempe, holla!
- All of the above

We don’t need graphics to make fun of Texass. If we need a laugh we just rewatch the game film when we hung 65 on your ass, or when y’all took a knee at midfield before the half, or when the little midget walked into the endzone 6 times, or … well I gotta go, somebody’s knocking at the door with our latest Big 12 trophy.
