Some quick bullets points on the latest Texas Longhorn Fall Camp developments:
- Devin Duvernay continues to log snaps at H. H is the slot position in the Texas offense. This is a clear indication of where the P in RPO is going to be aimed this year and I expect Texas to crowdsource the job, depending on opponent and coverages
- The Longhorn offense is experimenting with a Big/Fast Package 4 vertical set that consists of Eagles, Duvernay, Johnson and Epps. That’s a lot of raw speed and size
- Moro Ojomo has moved to nose tackle. Wilbon has been battling a hip injury and the staff want more disruption at the point of attack over center a la Poona Ford
- D’Shawn Jamison continues to hold down a cornerback position along with Jalen Green. At first, it was believed that Jamison was simply getting some starting work since Anthony Cook will miss the first half of La Tech due to his Sugar Bowl targeting penalty. Now it looks like Jamison may have made a push and there’s an intense competition outside. Jamison paired with Green at corner tells me that Orlando is looking to get as much quickness and playmaking out on the field as possible. This defense is trying to score. Let’s see how this develops through camp, particularly when pads come on and tackling becomes important
- Demarvion Overshown sighted in a boot
Conference foe related:
- Oklahoma lost their best coverage corner, Tre Norwood, to a ACL injury
- TCU lost their kicker to a scooter accident
- Baylor is getting thin at DE
