Texas recruiting continues its late summer surge, this time landing elite 4 star cornerback Ethan Pouncey from Winter Park, Florida. The 26th ranked player in the state of Florida by 24-7 composite was being heavily courted by Auburn, Florida, Clemson and Alabama.
Words cannot describe this feeling. I just wanted to say thank you to all of the coaches that gave me an opportunity to play at the next level but I have found my home. #Dreams2Reality #HookEm @cmitchell2284 @_pouncey @BCarringtonUT @washjwash pic.twitter.com/yaFP7Tw83p

The younger brother of Longhorn wide receiver Jordan Pouncey is a high level cover corner. As evidenced by his HUDL film. As a junior, Ethan racked up 8 interceptions, 3 of them pick 6s to go with an amazing 20+ PBUs. WHY DO YOU PEOPLE KEEP THROWING AT HIM?
Pouncey has terrific ball skills, length, anticipation and good quickness when the ball is in the air. That allows him to play “off coverage” and lure quarterbacks into seemingly safe throws that he turns into points going the other way or a turn and run where he runs the route for the receiver. Pouncey is skinny, but weights and free meals have a way of fixing that problem quickly. Despite a long slight frame, he doesn’t mind mixing it up.
A tremendous out of state addition to the 2020 Longhorn recruiting class.
With this addition, the 2020 class continues to shoot up the national rankings and now sits at #14 in the country and #1 in the Big 12 on the strength of only 13 commitments, the smallest total in the Top 25.
