It's all here in brutal Technicolor vomit, backwash, and hangover stew.
Notice the lack of names. Notice the lack of numbers.
Notice the lack of NFL careers. This, in my opinion, is the root of all our problems.
Reasoning
I believe that football starts with the lines. A great O-line gives a team a running game, which both opens up the passing game by drawing defenders into the box, making the offense multi-dimensional, which gives the offensive coordinator a full palette to work with. This creates long sustained drives which keeps the defense fresh. It also allows for strong pass protection that in turn allows for long throws to stretch the field, which again opens up the running game.
Full circle.
A team with all of this working can never be counted out of a football game, as the comeback potential is unlimited. It starts with the line. Our lines have been a joke in recent years due to bad recruiting and bad conditioning and bad luck. Injuries will happen, and it boggles my mind to see recruiting year after year with only a few lineman signed, …….and dicey ones at that. What were they thinking? I know that the so called "skill" positions are sexy, but thinking that finding a Colt or Vince to pull your ashes out of the fire every year is just completely nuts. It’s rolling the dice. All wishing and hoping. Just like we now think that Daje is going to come out of his bunker and save us. Screw that.
I want to see maulers on the lines. Everything else falls into place after that.
