DMN: "Texas athletic director: With new rules, Longhorns will pay each player $10,000"

Erich Schlegel

Patterson

Anyone have any thoughts about Patterson's comments?

We all have known for some time that at some point the curtain would be pulled back on the charade that has been major college athletics and the next step of its evolution or de-evolution.

It seems we are headed towards something I don't believe is better, but is inevitable. Not caught up in nostalgia or have mistaken romantic notions that college sports are purest in their amateur intent.

Just as a parent doesn't want their child to learn about the world too soon I am not sure it is truly in the best interest of athletes to take that next step to being professionals, but then again that happened along time ago didn't it?

Be excellent to each other.
