Texas' big win over the North Carolina Tar Heels is already paying dividends. 4* combo guard Andrew Jones from Irving MacArthur was in attendance for the win as part of his official visit. The Monday following the victory, Jones decided to commit to the Texas Longhorns.
Jones is currently ranked 35th on the 247 Sports Composite, making a meteoric rise up the recruiting boards after a huge summer playing with his AAU team, Nike Pro Skills. He previously took an official visit to the Louisville Cardinals and was expected to visit the Arizona Wildcats as well prior to making a decision. Other teams like the Kansas Jayhawks and Baylor Bears were also trying to factor into his recruitment.
He becomes the higest-rated recruit in Texas' 2016 class, which includes big man James Banks and scoring guard Jacob Young. Jones is also an explosive scorer, kind of an amalgam of Eric Davis' 3-point shooting prowess combined with some of Kerwin Roach's athleticism and slashing ability. In short, he's a prospect to get excited about.
Welcome to the Forty, Andrew. Hook 'em.
