College football's regular season has drawn to a close, but the pigskin will be flung with varying degrees of vigor in a wide range of contests today. Make a dent in your couch, add a further degree of difficulty to your New Years' weight loss goals and get ready for some football!
Texas High School Playoffs
12:00 Noon: 5A D-II
Frisco Lone Star (14-1) vs. Cedar Park (15-0)
4:00 PM: 6A D-I
Austin Westlake (14-1) vs. Galena Park North Shore (12-3)
8:00 PM: 6A D-II
Austin Lake Travis (15-0) vs. Katy (15-0)
Plenty of ATX flavor in this slate, and the eyes of Texas will be on 2017 Longhorn commit Sam Ehlinger as he looks to lead the Chaps past Galena Park. Watch this one and form your own judgments as to the comedy level of Ehlinger's current 3-star ranking. That game also features OLB Levi Jones (brother of ex-Longhorn Cayleb Jones and son of former Cowboys linebacker Robert Jones) for Westlake and a couple of intriguing 2017 prospects for North Shore in DE K'Lavon Chaisson and DB Kieston Roach.
The 8:00 game will see 2016 Longhorn RB target Kyle Porter looking to run Lake Travis into the ground for an absolutely loaded Katy squad. Some 2017 names to note include Lake travis WR Maleek Barkley and Katy defensive ends Corey Bethley and Ryder Anderson.
All these games will be on Fox Sports Southwest and streamable at:

A Dire Slate of Bowls
If you're the type of filthy communist who'd rather eschew the efforts of red-blooded Texan kids playing for it all in favor of ESPN's blisteringly bloated bowl slate, you'll have five scintillating contests to choose from today.
See if YOU Can pick the fake bowls out of this list:
Gildan New Mexico Bowl
Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl
Constitutional Monarchy Fuscia Reno Bowl
Raycom Media Camellia Bowl
WKRP Cincinnati Venus Flytrap Bowl
Autonation Cure Bowl
PepBoys Disease Bowl
R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
FanDuel Should Have Spent These Sponsorship Dollars On Some Lobbyists Bowl
A Dallas Death March
Last and very possibly least, the Cowboys will attempt to thread the needle between the futile pursuit of the NFC Least title and fouling up the shot at a Top Five draft choice as they take on the Fighting Fitzpatricks of New Jersey.
