Lots of work to do but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't really happy this evening.
That's it for a while and ain't because we're scared to play you.
Please feel free to celebrate this win here.

hours after the game, i still am not sure how we won. but that makes it all the more sweet.
i could not be more proud of the defense right now. one of the most gutsy performances i have seen in my time.

First let me say I just heard the Longhorn Radio guys freak out after the field goal and yell “NOW you can go to the SEC” it was great.
Second, matt- the networks have an unwritten agreement on Thanksgiving, NBC gets the Macy’s parade, CBS/Fox rotate the Cowboys/Lions games, and ABC/ESPN gets the UT game, no way they give CBS the game every other year, if we restart the rivalry ESPN will get a special consession from CBS to host it every year or it won’t happen…

Attended the game. That was one quiet beautifully quiet stadium as time expired. Everyone was pretty civil on both sides on the way out.

Also attended the game. I second what Major Major said. As quickly as they emptied that stadium, you know they’ve had some practice at these heartbreaking last second losses.

Enjoyed this win as much as any I can remember, save the MNC.
Not to diminish the last-minute, cardiac heroics that put the last three on the board, but this one is squarely on Diaz and his charges. Everyone played lights out on D, and I just can’t say enough about the corners. Diaz put those young dudes on an island all night and they balled out. Respect.

the forever scoreboard the aggies are so proud of with the uggggg, oh yeah
The FOREVER score.
88,465 …. reasons to beat the ags (attendance )
118 games… from the first to the last, 76 great moments (especially the 1st & the last)
BAD ASS D (excluding the ags first & last drive )…. 4 field goals, 3 picks, & 1fumble recovery
Congrats horns on a well deserved victory.

Hey TKO
don’t forget the shout out to the special teams too.
Am currently watching the aggies lose the game for the 3 rd time, one more to go on ESPNU @ 8 am EST
gotta be pretty disheartening for the ags to know this is gonna be an instant classic in the ESPN archives and will most likely be shown every Thanksgiving before the annual Texas / TCU Thanksgiving Day game.
They just replayed the “Case” run & i am amazed he didn’t fumble.

Confession: Didn’t watch game; didn’t listen to it.
Checked score at halftime. Went to bed.
Very early day for me today. Working retail sucks ass, but I’m kind of a stupid fucker so it’s the bed I’ve made for myself. Anyway…
Fantastic and wonderful surprise when I got up and checked the score. WOW!
An improbable victory won by the TEAM. Defense made many huge plays. Special teams did what they needed to do. The offense contributed where it could and even made the game winning drive!
I read the play by play, then I read the game thread on this blog.
I must say we have some of the fuckingest PUSSIES posting on this site! We sound like fucking Hornfans, except Hornfans always crashes. Even if I attribute half the posts to alchohol, it’s really kind of pathetic. The rants against players and coaches and Dodds get truly low at times. The few voices of reason don’t post or are lost in the noise. I’m not advocating thought police, but we need some serious soul searching by a few posters before they do any more commenting.
In my view this is the best fan site on the whole web. Let’s keep it that way by acting like thoughtful adults who have some perspective (even if we aren’t and don’t).
CONGRATULATIONS, HORNS and THANK YOU.

Aggies have a miserable past in the Big 12 to look back at, a deep dark abyss of pain to think about forever in regards to “tu”, and an empty future to envision in the SEC. They truly define hopelessness any way you turn them as a fan base, a football program, and a presence in the state of Texas.
What a perfect ending to our relationship with this hapless, dysfunctional cult. It could not have been scripted any better vis a vis a Texas Longhorn victory that eviscerated the Aggies as well as cutting out their hearts and souls. Do Aggies have souls?
And they are all alone now.

I’m glad we won. This is like any other ATM game for me - it isn’t so much that this means a lot for UT on the national stage, or that I’ll scrawl the score on my car in white shoe polish, or that I’ll taunt a bunch of Aggies.
It’s that UT didn’t stub their toe on the national stage, I won’t see any cars with the score scrawled on it, and I won’t get taunted by any Aggies.

There is something poetic about the Aggies losing a game because they self-destructed. There’s no way Texas scores 27 points without the Aggies’ help. This wasn’t as comprehensive of a choke as the 74 game where very good A&M team received the opening kick yet 54 seconds into the game trailed 14-0 because of two fumbles, However, because of the historical implications, it was probably the sweetest of all time.

Cirque- I was at that game. The Ags came in rated higher than us, and were looking forward to a win in Memorial Stadium (back when those things were rare). Some Ag a few rows in front of us, in a maroon leisure suit with white shoes and a white belt was obnoxious the entire pregame. After those two TDs off fumbles, he sat down for the entire rest of the game. Lasting memory of the rivalry.

Before this season even began, I thought this was THE most important game of the year for the (unranked and rebuilding) Longhorns but that Top 10 A&M would crush the us at Kyle. Then I started to get hope after our ground pounding dominating wins over KU and Tech. And then I lost hope again after the offensive offense-less losses against KSU and mediocre Mizzou. The early 13-0 deficit started to reinforce that feeling along with cynical thoughts re Mack’s expectations that the defense needs to score more.
But then like a LORD of the Rings movie, Mack (Frodo) and our seemingly doomed heroes are saved by forces led by Gandalf (Diaz) the white wizard. A endless sea of shrieking Orcs and Urukai (Aggies and Cadets) disappear into the dark abyss as the clock tower lights orange and the Tower of Mordor crumbles. What a sweet victory.
Securing scoreboard/victory in the last game and a poetic 2-to-1 all-time victory-to-loss ratio against the Ags is the earliest and best Christmas present of the year for me. Thank you God.

And here come the military smack. This was posted to my facebook in response to 76-37-5:
“That disparity was built off of playing high school-esque Aggie teams that were decimated from three wars. The correct response is “thank you for protecting our country regardless of how it made your football team look, Aggies.” Since scholarship regulation - when the college playing field was leveled - we’ve still beaten you more than not, and apparently we “always” will be able to say that. "
I’m so happy to be done with them.
by Longhorn Prime on Nov 25, 2025 11:03 AM CST reply actions
Three wars?
WWI WWII and Korea? or Vietnam? What about the Spanish American War? or the Occupation of the Phillipines?
I love how (for whatever reason they give) College Football is only counted from year 19XX.
It is in effect saying the Aggies prior to that weren’t trying/capable/incompentent.
1939 was a hella year but according to most aggies it predates 19XX so it doesn’t count?
Aggie logic is nonexistent.

Watched the game at friends house. I was the most diehard fan, along with a couple somewhat hardcores, a couple casuals, and a bunch of people who don’t care about sports. As people kept coming in to get more beer and glanced at the TV, more and more people sat down to watch.
When Case was near the end of his miracle scramble, we were all jumping and shouting “GET DOWN, GET DOWN!” As Tucker trotted out, I told everyone that I was happy that one of the few seniors on the team would have a chance to win the game, and I wasn’t worried because he’s a clutch kicker. The kick sailed through, and screaming and high-fiving ensued.
Tried to get a picture of the Tower lit burnt orange from the I-35 upper deck on the way home, with no success. But I was glowing almost as brightly.

I can’t think of anything more miserable than what it must be like to be an Aggie right now. They will never get over this. Not. Ever. The results of this season and this game define them in every way. Unfounded expectation and delusions of grandeur laid bare by a gaping head wound inflicted by a despised and envied rival whose feet they couldn’t kiss if they stood tiptoe on a mountain top.
They are now orphaned. They have laid waste to the only heritage and identity they ever had. Granted it was forged in our shadow, as is befitting, but it was all they had. Now they have nothing. They are literally in hell.
God bless this football team and God Bless my Alma Mater—-The University of Texas at Austin.

Great regular season win. I’m glad Case was able to get Texas into position to be able to get a chance to kick the winning FG, thank you Mr. Tucker.
I was also at that ’74 aggy game at Mem. It was so cold that day. Really cold, with a monster wind from the north. The kind of cold that chills you to the bone, and stays for a long time once you go inside. But yea, we go up 14 zip before a minute elapses, and aggy dreams are smashed. Beginning of the end for Emory Bellard.
Hopefully, we can build off this win, but we’re absolutely going to have to have some serious offense if we hope to beat Baylor. I don’t know if Case is up to task, but we’re fixin’ to find out.

There are some natural, logical break points in this series that I will break down here in honor of this victory. I am only going to include what I consider modern college football - so Aggies reading this need not worry about the inherently unfair advantages we enjoyed during WWI, WWII and the Korean War.
The Royal Era 1957-1976. UT 17(wins), TAMU 3(wins). Utter domination, althought A&M got the last two including a signature win in 1975. Of course they choked the next week against Arkansas which cost them an outright SWC title and Cotton Bowl bid.
The Post-Royal SWC Era 1977-1995. TAMU 12, UT 7. The real turning point was 1984, but we got the seminal win of this era in 1995, the last SWC game.
The Big 12 Era 1996-2011. UT 11, TAMU 5. Again, domination, with only one truly brutal loss for us(2006) as opposed to the insufferable 1984-1994 period.
In modern football times - that is, including most of the players and many of the coaches who are still living - we are 35-20 vs. A&M.
Throw out the Royal era? We still win 18-17. The only way the Aggies have an edge is to tally from 1975 or 1984 which is totally arbitrary. Why not 1971? or 1967? You see what I mean about drawing a line.
Congrats to all the coaches and players on this win. Usually beating A&M brings only relief and no joy. Losing means you will never hear the end of it(as anyone who attended UT from 1985-1990) will attest. In this case, it’s going to be really quiet for a long, long time. Now that’s something to be joyous about!
Hook ’Em Horns!!!

trkhorn- Great historical perspective. I have done some of the same vs. OU since 1950. Despite some bad stretches, we have the upper hand.
Regarding halftime, I have lived many years now in California, and my friends dont get the whole Texas- A&M thing, believing we are all deviants and only differ based on orange and maroon. But the local paper had a picture of our band spelling out Thanks aTm, and some light bulbs went off. Texas is a class school.
I loved the 49-9 ass whuppin in 2008. This win beats all the others over the years.

I have no clue what aTm is thinking they’ll do in the S-E-C!!!, other than serve toy soldier punching bags to the heavyweights. Their spit-polished brown jackboots will be blood-stained after getting mauled by stronger schools with immunity to the “Sprit of Aggieland”. And they often get to change time zones for the privilege.

Other SEC schools have long-running non-conf rivalries that have withstood the onslaught of supersized conferences.
Florida/Fl State
UGA/Ga Tech
South Carolina/Clemson
Not to mention the schools who play ND every year:
Michigan
Mich State
Purdue
Southern Cal
Take one of the pathetic non-BCS or FCS cupcakes off the schedule, put aside the petty bickering, and keep the rivalry intact for the benefit of both schools.

Aggies want it both ways. Everything was on the table back in the summer of 2010… but they signed a contract to stay in the Big 12 through 2016. So they break the contract with us and the Big 12, and we’re supposed to screw over other programs because of it??? If the rivalry was so important, why didn’t they secure its existence BEFORE leaving the conference? Haven’t their impulsive, whining administration/fanbase done enough damage to everyone involved?
Yet you will hear Aggies including Byrne himself proclaim “we want to continue the rivalry, anytime/anyplace - it’s not us, we’re not scared blah blah blah”. How can you rationally respond to this? The childish behavior comes straight from the top - you simply cannot reason with these immature morons. All we can do is point to the scoreboard, because that’s about all they can comprehend.
I’m as traditionalist as they come - I’m one of the few who still bemoan losing the rivalry w/Arkansas. But on this - their actions are pure bullshit. When they can finally come to the table as adults, which is probably never, then great. Until then they need to suffer the consequences of thier idiotic actions. I dislike Deloss but I will give credit where it’s due - we will be just fine without them.
