Boycott the BCS National Championship game!!!

by MR BLONDDE on Jan 9, 2026 6:16 PM CST reply actions

LSU wins by 7 or more.
Turnovers are the difference
the madd hatter wins again

by jet on Jan 9, 2026 6:19 PM CST reply actions

Wait, there’s a rematch? That’s…like…once-in-a-century, right? RIGHT? BUELLER??

by UT07 on Jan 9, 2026 6:21 PM CST reply actions

If Bama wins they get to play UGA for the SEC Championship, right?

by bevosbackside on Jan 9, 2026 6:38 PM CST reply actions

Roll Tide!

by Vulcan on Jan 9, 2026 6:58 PM CST reply actions

Two teams from the same conference should NEVER play each other for the national championship. IT AINT RIGHT!!!! It is never right.

they would never allow Texas play Oklahoma for the national championship. The only reason they are letting Lsu and Bama is bec they are from the sacred conference.

They have the best defenses, but that don’t mean they are the best teams. BCS really stinks this year. This is the worst “so-called” championship match up ever. And though I dislike both teams, I hope LSU monkey slaps Bama.

by staylucky on Jan 9, 2026 7:12 PM CST reply actions

I’m off to enjoy the game.

Enjoy the pity party. (and remember that there was no plus-one this year because of Jim Delaney and Dan Beebe.)

by Vulcan on Jan 9, 2026 7:21 PM CST reply actions

Brent Mushmouth, who’s David and who’s goliath in this matchup of paid, bloated, ubertalented teams?

by kemit on Jan 9, 2026 7:27 PM CST reply actions

How about a great big YAWN. Same score = Boring. High score = Rigged.

by Pablo Cruz on Jan 9, 2026 7:29 PM CST reply actions

A punter who kicks high and deep. Imagine that.

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 7:33 PM CST reply actions

Smelley is a tough cover for LSU at 6-3, 230. They need to treat him less as a TE and more as an oversized WR.

by Scipio Tex on Jan 9, 2026 7:41 PM CST reply actions

Jordan isn’t exactly nifty on the option. Jesus. Tuck it and go.

by Scipio Tex on Jan 9, 2026 7:43 PM CST reply actions

Well, LSU at least thought about getting their speed to the edge with the option.

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 7:43 PM CST reply actions

Maze pulled a hammy.

by Scipio Tex on Jan 9, 2026 7:44 PM CST reply actions

Looks like Mays may be done

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 7:45 PM CST reply actions

Big 12 officials must be thinking they showed up at the wrong stadium — WTF? — what weird sort of formations are these? What are these players called “Fullbacks?”

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 7:46 PM CST reply actions

Impressed by the aggression of Bama’s early game plan.

by Scipio Tex on Jan 9, 2026 7:50 PM CST reply actions

Bama OL holding strong…LSU not getting a lot of pressure on the pass rush.

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 7:52 PM CST reply actions

Already on shot number 4 in the inagural SEC BCS drinking game. One shot per punt. Im gonna get really drunk. This was ill conceived.

by roach on Jan 9, 2026 7:53 PM CST reply actions

Saban knows long drives on this defense are probably out of the question — he had to be frustrated again with having to settle for a field goal.

It would be cool if ESPN would throw up a score graphic that read LSU 9 Alabama 9

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 7:54 PM CST reply actions

Only a few Texans playing. Usually I cheer for the team with the most Texans. Not so easy with these two teams. Alabama looks determined not to repeat the same low scoring game as before.

Texas desperately needs a big Tight End next year to make their offense go. Here’s to you MJF! That’s how you beat LSU and Big 12 defenses that value speed over size.

by Cousin It on Jan 9, 2026 7:54 PM CST reply actions

Feel sorry for Roach

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 7:54 PM CST reply actions

Hey! Some team kicked a FIELD GOAL!

by AKHorn on Jan 9, 2026 7:57 PM CST reply actions

I may die tonight. Shot number 5 coming up

by roach on Jan 9, 2026 7:57 PM CST reply actions

Mad Hatter gone GD? Hmmm…don’t think the screens are going to work

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 7:57 PM CST reply actions

They’re letting McCarron fling it.

by Scipio Tex on Jan 9, 2026 8:05 PM CST reply actions

Didn’t Dee Hart blow out his knee? If so how the hell is he even suited up in this game?

by Fellache Me on Jan 9, 2026 8:09 PM CST reply actions

Fake FG — LSU should have seen that coming — the Bama kicker doesn’t have that kind of range.

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 8:11 PM CST reply actions

Love the fake call. Got a great spot

by ultralight on Jan 9, 2026 8:11 PM CST reply actions

Very favorable spot I think

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 8:12 PM CST reply actions

It is under review — and it should be — I don’t think he made it.

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 8:12 PM CST reply actions

Cue Kenny Vaccaro references.

by ultralight on Jan 9, 2026 8:14 PM CST reply actions

Hey, I had to walk the dog. What’s the score . . . oh.

Five punts, huh Roach?

by AKHorn on Jan 9, 2026 8:20 PM CST reply actions

LSU O looks terrible…one would think they have figured out that Bama is going to blow up screens. LSU needs to go vertical and quick

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 8:21 PM CST reply actions

“A fine juggling catch!”

Uh. Sure.

by Daniel on Jan 9, 2026 8:21 PM CST reply actions

Jefferson looks terrified and confused.

by Scipio Tex on Jan 9, 2026 8:23 PM CST reply actions

Would LOVE to see Satan and Miles get into a slap fight during the post game handshake and get banned from college football FOREVER!

by Pounds on Jan 9, 2026 8:27 PM CST reply actions

Mingo is a tiny defensive end.

by BrickHorn on Jan 9, 2026 8:27 PM CST reply actions

Could be that QB play actually matters - at least McCarron can make the routine plays.

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 8:27 PM CST reply actions

Oh and I’m sure ESPN is loving the audio problems they are having — mute buttons being hit nationwide.

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 8:28 PM CST reply actions

I’ll never be able to watch a game involving Bama and not think “Colt McCoy” and “what might have been.”

by AKHorn on Jan 9, 2026 8:29 PM CST reply actions

“Smelly comes underneath. Well sniffed out by McElwyn.”. Lulz.

by BrickHorn on Jan 9, 2026 8:29 PM CST reply actions

Bama just got away with a huge hold

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 8:30 PM CST reply actions

These may or may not be excellent defenses, but they are undoubtedly two putrid offenses.

All of the bald-headed SEC shills in Birmingham couldn’t convince me that the SEC is categorically the best conference.

by Dmitri Kissov on Jan 9, 2026 8:30 PM CST reply actions

The LSU defensive backfield is nails.

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 8:31 PM CST reply actions

Saban did his research. Saw that it was a Big 12 officiating crew and knew that they rarely call holding. Alabama dominating.

by Cousin It on Jan 9, 2026 8:33 PM CST reply actions

Dmitri, that was my thought the first time I watched these two play. There was no offense.

by java on Jan 9, 2026 8:37 PM CST reply actions

MIles coached in the league — he knows exactly what he is dealing with.

by srr50 on Jan 9, 2026 8:37 PM CST reply actions

Why no time out by Bama? Jordan needs to call George and Weezy.

by absolut on Jan 9, 2026 8:40 PM CST reply actions

Jefferson looks bad…needs to calm down or Lee needs a shot.

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 8:40 PM CST reply actions

Touchdown spotlight. Sweet. What was LSU running on that 3rd down. Looks like they let the DT through.

by ultralight on Jan 9, 2026 8:40 PM CST reply actions

LSU needs to make a QB change at halftime

by Scipio Tex on Jan 9, 2026 8:40 PM CST reply actions

SEC Football - made for radio

by Adeal on Jan 9, 2026 8:43 PM CST reply actions

What new wrinkle has LSU incorporated on offense? Please don’t tell me that option play was it. I think their hope that the Alabama kickers would completely choke again is out the window.

by Cousin It on Jan 9, 2026 8:44 PM CST reply actions

No wrinkles from LSU. Plenty from Bama.

by Scipio Tex on Jan 9, 2026 8:45 PM CST reply actions

Where did LSU’s secondary go?

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 8:45 PM CST reply actions

Honey Badger is not making tackles.

by Daniel on Jan 9, 2026 8:46 PM CST reply actions

Not watching, but just checked score.

How did Bama score their runs? And who’s pitching for LSU?

by Texoz on Jan 9, 2026 8:47 PM CST reply actions

Does Bama have the best offensive line in the country? Very good at pass and run blocking.

by Closet Horn on Jan 9, 2026 8:48 PM CST reply actions

Les is so pissed he can’t even talk correctly…uh oh

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 8:48 PM CST reply actions

If LSU cant get some rushing yards they are toast no matter who is playing QB.

by VA Horn on Jan 9, 2026 8:50 PM CST reply actions

Coaching matters. MNC x3 for the midget.

by Hooplehead on Jan 9, 2026 8:51 PM CST reply actions

McCarron doing a nice job extending plays and delivering the ball on the run. Impressed with Norwood’s hands, catching the ball really cleanly.

by ultralight on Jan 9, 2026 8:51 PM CST reply actions

Bama D is aggressive tonight…still wondering where the play action for LSU is.

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 8:53 PM CST reply actions

Awesome game - Hope Nick Satan kicks 19 more field goals and they win 66-6 …… But WAIT Mad Leslie Hatter SOLD his soul to Satan ……. so the field spontaneously cOmbusts with 6.66 secs to go …… shared MNC ……. All this drunken sordidness means that AGGY WINS ……. S-e-C …..S-e-C …… S-e-C …… RickPee and other aggys think that stands for SheepEjacualateConsumption ;)

by GoHornsGo on Jan 9, 2026 8:55 PM CST reply actions

Les is ticked he’s having to play Alabama in a rematch for the title.

by java on Jan 9, 2026 8:56 PM CST reply actions

Two thoughts after watching the first half.

1) Brent has become the Milo Hamilton of College Football Play-by-Play.

2) If Alabama wins I get this strange feeling DGB ends up there.

Saban’s pitch is simple in you are the crown jewel of the best recruiting class for the best program in the country and play in the best conference. We plan on winning this at least a couple more times and have almost all the pieces, but one. YOU. A game breaking receiver and for all those people who tell you we won’t get you the ball remember that the last time we had someone with close to your talents we did, we won, and he came out of here good enough that the Falcons traded half their draft to get him.

Then again it could be the wine.

by Davey O'Brien on Jan 9, 2026 8:57 PM CST reply actions

That knew SEC commercial makes me want to vomit

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 8:57 PM CST reply actions

Alabama maybe slowly wearing down the LSU defense. They must be winded.

by Mysterious Package on Jan 9, 2026 8:58 PM CST reply actions

Educamation from Univershitty of Alabammer …. “Touch a life” …. Does that mean touch your underage sister in the trailer park ?

by GoHornsGo on Jan 9, 2026 8:59 PM CST reply actions

25 attempts for McCarron. Crazy, but they are poised to hammer Richardson in the 2nd half.
LSU looked content to punt. Gotta change it up now. LSU only had 17 offensive plays.

by ultralight on Jan 9, 2026 9:00 PM CST reply actions

For those looking for more action, Youngblood is on NBCSP. A very underrated sports flick, IMO.

by AKHorn on Jan 9, 2026 9:00 PM CST reply actions

Two questions:

If this was truly the “game of the century” part deux, why didn’t ABC axe the Bachelor garbage?

What .gifs does LSUfreek come out with if Bama wins?

Boring game.

by Flash on Jan 9, 2026 9:10 PM CST reply actions

What I learned from the first half:

Lou Holtz needs protection from the mayhem of chicken-hating Romanian cows named Peggy.

And these offenses stink.

by parlin on Jan 9, 2026 9:11 PM CST reply actions

Just got back from the basketball game.

Davey - Putting aside the last thread, your comments about DGB hit the big mystery of SEC football for me. How do they get kids like Shepard, Russell and Jones? It’s not as if other conferences aren’t showcasing WR talents into the upper half of the first round. Do they want to learn how to block in a pro-style running game that badly?

To all: If McCarron keeps chucking it, something bad is going to happen to flip this thing around. Hasn’t that been LSU’s script out of half-time that past five games?

by G.O.F. on Jan 9, 2026 9:12 PM CST reply actions

Hope HarsinWhiteMackDaddy are taking copious notes on how to supercharge an offense with an inexperienced QB and no WRs !

by GoHornsGo on Jan 9, 2026 9:14 PM CST reply actions

McCarron is making some throws.

by Mysterious Package on Jan 9, 2026 9:15 PM CST reply actions

A touchdown here and Saban reverts to ground chuck.

by 2xHorn on Jan 9, 2026 9:16 PM CST reply actions

LSU needs to stop playing zone, man up, and start blitzing. Bama OL holding easy with only 4 rushing

by STLaw on Jan 9, 2026 9:17 PM CST reply actions

Davey, easy on Milo, for all his faults he has more personality than those other two mullets combIned! Although he has stayed too long at the dance.

Jordan Jefferson seems like he sucks

They let Upshaw go untouched for no reason at all. Mindless.

by Scipio Tex on Jan 9, 2026 9:23 PM CST reply actions

Reminds me of the story of the one-tooth SEC hick walking into a Deep South bar with his dog to watch two $EC behemoths collide. One team kicks a FG, dog cartwheels and somersaults and dances TheChicken standing on two legs etc.

Everyone is impressed and bartender asks the SECatard “That’s an awesome dog - all of that for a FG!! What does he do when they score a Touchdown ?”

Hickster replies “Dunno, haven’t seen that yet - have only had him for seven years”

Jefferson is awful, and should’ve been pulled at half time. Yeah, he’s mobile, I guess, but he stays too long in the pocket to make use of his athleticism when the plays break down, or shovel passes it to the other team.

Man, this game really, really lived up to its billing or boredom. That’s seven quarters of football, with nine field goals being the only scores.

by Colby on Jan 9, 2026 9:55 PM CST reply actions

We should start a rumor that the LSU administration, content with the payout the SEC is getting form being in the NC, conspired with Bama to keep Miles from winning the game so that he wouldn’t get that bonus.

If these are the best two teams that college football has to offer, then other than watching the Longhorns, I am through watching college football.

Through this bowl season, I watched two complete games, both from my alma maters. I watched the end of a few games, and I watched most of this “championship” in fast forward form.

College football is basically WWE wrestling, albeit with higher purses.

What a joke this sport has become.

awesome game, which I did not watch 1 second of.

The only way the outcome could have been better is if Bama won 3-0.

With this Bama “victory” there will be a lot of negative clatter about this game and BCS.

by Texoz on Jan 9, 2026 10:33 PM CST reply actions

Yep…mus-whatever is still a Bama homer.

All I have to say is this was a terrible offensive game. I think OSU could have beaten Bama or LSU. That and I feel bad for Lee, he got shafted tonight. Bet he wishes he would have stayed in texas to play instead of for Miles.

Watch it Zizzzzzzz! There are posters that will tell you that they would still rather have MB as the head coach of Texas. Nick Saban now has more NCs in 9 years than Mack has CCs in over 25 years.

Saunders should be ashamed for that “HEY NICK.. CRY ABOUT YOUR DEAD DAD!!!” shit there. Leave it to ESPN to make me sympathise with Saban.

Saban is hands down the best college coach in my lifetime. The guy has his players ready to play. Hes intense and holds them accountable. Man what I wouldn’t give for half what he brings. Granted LSU sucked hard but I’ve never seen such a more prepared team than Alabama tonight. Just so impressive. And severly dislike Alabama but damn give Saban his due the man can coach!

Christ, that was boring.

Some sort of fundamental change to the game of football is needed to improve the odds of an interesting MNC.

Strippers instead of cheerleaders.

Secret subliminal codes that, properly interpreted, lead to hidden Bugatti Veyrons.

Professional wrestlers wearing antlers who run into the crowd to kick people in the balls.

Government-funded pizza for all who wish it.

Something.

The only upside is that the SEC Elite seems much weaker than billed against the pass. I say Texas 2005 would have ripped either of those teams apart.

Texas 2013 may well do it.

by Louis L'am Jones on Jan 9, 2026 11:05 PM CST reply actions

Saban and the Bama staff completely pantsed the LSU staff. Bama broke tendency throwing 16 passes on 18 first down plays in the first half, most using Richardson or Lacey as decoys in play action. LSU’s OC channeled Greg Davis with the dreaded East-West offense while Jefferson looked lost. Bama dominated time of possession, field position and yardage while building a lead, then ran it down LSU’s throats late to seal it.

by hopefulhorn on Jan 9, 2026 11:07 PM CST reply actions

I still can’t believe Alabama beat us with such a young team in 09.

When are these jokers going to talk about the fact that LSU couldn’t get a first down against Georgia in the first half?

Who said recruiting doesn’t matter? Compare our 08 class to Bama’s 08 class and each program is essentially right where they should be.

What I wouldn’t give for a TE that can block, run, and catch, much less three of them.

Miles is an enigma. How can a man that stupid be that successful. A visit to the crossroads I presume.

LSU got out-coached big time. Saban and coaches had an excellent game plan.

Okie St might have pulled it off against LSU tonight.

Saban’s teams are physical as fuck and strong as hell.

In the fourth quarter, I got hooked on a PBS show about Ghenghis Khan. I flipped back to catch the touchdown, so that was nice.

I would have been so much more interested had Stanford or OSU played LSU.

by RomaVicta on Jan 9, 2026 11:25 PM CST reply actions

Joyless Saban did cross them up with play action. Having Trent Richardson and real live TEs makes that possible. But fuck him. Fuck him for that last unnecessary TD against Texas.

That “unnecessary touchdown” is why Nick’s got three rings. Dude is simply not fucking around and doesn’t have time for your sniveling. Plus, he has a recruiting class of the 53 best players every year.

by Sailor Ripley on Jan 10, 2026 12:44 AM CST reply actions

he is ruthless in recruiting in numbers then has no qualms in cutting scholarlships as he sees fit. anyone would admire how well his team was prepared to play tonight, but you give up a lot in class with him. he would not fit at texas

by Noonan on Jan 10, 2026 1:37 AM CST reply actions

you had to be impressed with the way their D manhandled LSU. the qb had absolutely no time to throw it so they couldn’t go deep. when they tried to go east-west the defenders had way too much lateral speed. also, every defender went to the ball. amazing how good defenses do that rather than having some stand back and let others make the play.

by Noonan on Jan 10, 2026 1:41 AM CST reply actions

Yes, Noonan, but in all fairness LSU has one of the worst offenses around. I am sure Bama could have done the same thing to most offenses last night but LSU is awful.
Alabama pushed LSU around in the first game but the kickers suck or they would have won then.

You’d think that ruthless Saban would sign about 5 kickers this year.

I would bet this was one of the least watched NCAA football championships games in a while.

by my name is nobody on Jan 10, 2026 6:47 AM CST reply actions

If that’s what ruthless gets you, I’ll take please. The dude wins and players line up every year to go there despite his tactics. Apparently being ruthless has zero effect on burning relationships with highschool coaches.

The series is now 1-1. I say they have an academic bowl or their math teams can have a math-off for the tie breaker.

by Team Dirty Leg on Jan 10, 2026 8:31 AM CST reply actions

I’m sure it would look exactly like both games. All defense.

by Team Dirty Leg on Jan 10, 2026 8:32 AM CST reply actions

G.O.F.

I am sure someone will eventually say glibly that that the SEC simply buys those players, but that happens in other conferences as well if not more so.

If I had to guess I would say it is a combination of the perception of the SEC, facilities/fan support (I think they have 8 stadiums that hold 80K), and the level of competition you will face each and every week.

NickelRover and I were having a discussion and he made a comment about the number of defensive backs Akina has put into the NFL and it is an impressive list. Now go look at those numbers and you will find I believe it was 4, maybe 5 SEC schools, that have put a similar number of defensive backs in the NFL during the time Duane has been in Austin.

LSU beat the shit out of three pretty good football teams in UO, WVU, and Arkansas as you pointed out. This result shouldn’t have been a complete surprise as LSU did not exactly dominate in their win. They struggled on offense and if Bama’s kicker was a fraction of Van Tiffin they win that game and we get a different title game match-up.

The one thing LSU gave them trouble with was the option, offered no type of counter -misdirection-play action off that look, and with that many days to prepare Saban and Smart had their defense ready to stop the LSU offense.

Groundhog,

They did mention LSU’s struggles against UGA and I think the fault has to lie completely with Les Miles. Regardless of who is their offensive co-ordinator we still see the same cro-magnon offensive scheme. Saban gets a wrap for being conservative, but they have done this before in other games to get ahead and then grind you down with the running game. I understand why a receiver would go to Bama, but I don’t know why a quarterback would go to LSU.

by Davey O'Brien on Jan 10, 2026 8:46 AM CST reply actions

I like the fact that Alabama won the championship without winning their conference. While LSU and Georgia played their championship game, Bama sat back knowing they were playing the winner.

by kemit on Jan 10, 2026 8:54 AM CST reply actions

Offensive MVP is whomever made protection calls for the Bama OL. Or the OC.
Due to an incredible series of unfortunate events I’ve still only seen the first half with my own eyes but first half reminded me of 09 or 04 Texas vs. OU.
Two dominant defenses and one offense that was prepared to manufacture offense and another that totally wasn’t. Like OU, you can’t let Bama read the play and pursue the ball that easily, there needs to be misdirection or multiple attack points on a given play. That’s why the option was expected to be useful but evidently Jefferson doesn’t actually know how to run it.

OSU, Baylor, and pre-Broyles injury OU all had better offenses than either of the units we watched last night. This is not debatable. I think that if OU had been luckier with injuries and less internally divided they may have had a chance to beat either of these teams.

by Nickel Rover on Jan 10, 2026 9:20 AM CST reply actions

Nickel, I think a lot of teams could have beaten LSU last night. They were definitely off.

That game was the second least watched BCS championship game in history, ahead of only OU v USC with 13.8 rating. To lazy to link it.

whoa it htmled for me that’s kinda cool.

by roach on Jan 10, 2026 9:49 AM CST reply actions

LSU’s gameplan was awful. They never attacked the middle of the field or tried to throw downfield on play action to loosen up the front (although Alabama’s pass rush may not have permitted that, they could have at least tried it with max protect)… just lateral screens and horrendous options that played right into Alabama’s hands. That and the Alabama NT didn’t get blocked most of the game. Georgia Southern, a 1AA team, ran 39 times for 302 yards against Alabama (and it was 31-21 late in the 3rd). Best defense ever? They didn’t do well stopping a traditional option attack.

That said, Jefferson was terrible. On the option, has to attack the end or LB upfield and force him to make a decision. Doesn’t anyone know how to coach that brand of football in D1 anymore? I too suspected Jefferson was throwing the game for a while… why not at least try Lee in the fourth quarter?

Texoz;

Both sites have the game at a 13.8 rating, the site I linked above said OU v USC was a 13.7 rating. The site you linked did not mention that game. I’m not sure who is right.

by roach on Jan 10, 2026 10:14 AM CST reply actions

Nickel,

When the only version of the option is the speed option, you never really have shown any type of counter to it, aren’t going to try to hold the inside linebackers with at least a token fake to a dive back, never show the quick pass to the tight end (i.e. UH in the veer for how many years though everyone knew the damn thing was coming), won’t start the option and then drop back to take a shot deep, and your receivers really aren’t interested in blocking the cornerback you pretty much are screwed running the option.

Horrible game prep by LSU compounded by the play calling and having a quarterback who somehow made JaMarcus Russell look like an adept game manager.

It will take a couple of days to get final ratings. Over nights are close, but the number could change a little.

2005 Texas would have scored more than 0, I know that much. Probably more than 21 as well.

Personally, I think 2005 Texas and USC would have beaten either of these teams. 2001 Miami would have destroyed them.

by stevenebraska on Jan 10, 2026 11:25 AM CST reply actions

Davey,

if you had even a four game playoff, the difference between both games would be dramatic since there will only be a week between games unlike a 35 day layoff to play one game. I would think that a better quality of football would be played between whomever was playing in the championship. This game was sloppy from the onset with multiple false starts, Jefferson dropping the snap several times—knew then LSU wasn’t mentally in it. Plus, it has to be difficult trying to focus on a team you already beat, in front of your home crowd in a city known primarily for partying. This team wasn’t focused to say the least whereas when they played Bama in Bama, they pretty much had to be.

by kemit on Jan 10, 2026 11:40 AM CST reply actions

I think CBS, the home of the SEC football season, should offer for these same two teams to play for a third time next Monday night:

- we could listen to the national media again discuss ad infinitum the greatness of the SEC
- continue to witness Paul Finebaum and Tony Barnhart verbally fellate Les Miles
- would get to listen again to Brent Musberger talk about that little rascal, Nick Saban
- if two games is better than one, then three must be best, right?
- we would get to hear more Tuesday morning quarterbacking from Bobby Hebert
- three words: More Field Goals
- finally, it might, once and for all, help kill the BCS

by Varsity on Jan 10, 2026 12:34 PM CST reply actions

kemit,

I agree with you. The fact that the bowls are now stretched over such a long period of time is ridiculous and I think it has had a negative impact on the overall quality of the title games.
