I'm a native Texan. That's a very good thing to be.
Wikipedia says:
The name, based on the Caddo word "Tejas" meaning "friends" or "allies"...
This sounds about right to me. Please let this thread be your place to celebrate all things great about the Lone Star State.

Has anyone been to see the Texas Legation in London? Fittingly it now is a wine and spirit merchant’s building. When we were a Republic we had legations iin Washington, London and Paris. Haven’t seen the one in Paris - the biased eastern press probably tore down the one in Washington!
