TJ Ford's H-Town Shootout

As we've seen so many times, TJ Ford with another beautiful assist.

I just got off the phone with TJ (and Alfio Randall-Veasey) and talked a little about the event TJ's putting on in Houston July, 27, 28, 29. It's a Pro/Am Tourney with a $5,000 purse and all donations and proceeds will be donated to the Houston Independent School District.

TJ Ford has always called Houston home. His Basketball roots were firmly planted here, and he has always been passionate about giving back to the community that helped raise him. This year, he is proud to announce his latest philanthropic endeavor, the H-Town Shootout. TJ Ford’s Inaugural H-Town Shootout aims to give back to the Houston community in many different ways. All proceeds raised will benefit the designated Houston Independent School District host high schools. The funds will assist these schools in their efforts to overcome current budget deficits. In addition, TJ hopes to spur economic activity to the areas surrounding these host schools and make an impact on the children of greater Houston.

As faithful readers know, TJ is one the big three in my Longhorn Pantheon along with Ricky and VY. We're lucky enough to get to ask TJ some questions and are probably going to have him on a podcast next week. Look for these interviews here and over on Burnt Orange Nation.

I also figured some of the hoopheads in our audience will have some good questions too. Please leave those below and we'll try to get some of those answered. Let us know what you want to know about high school ball in Houston, TJ's time on the 40 Acres, in the NBA, etc. I personally want to know what he and Bobby Knight were discussing during the Big 12 Tournament his Final Four year.

Check out the event. Follow along on Twitter:

And stay tuned for some interviews.

All-time Longhorn legend.

The guy had a special understanding of the game. The purest of pure point guards.

Was just saying

It was fun to watch him take over games without ever shooting the ball.

I remember a lot of nights

where he dominated a game while taking only 6 or 7 shots. I’ve never seen a college point guard create easier baskets.

questions that aren't the most astute but I still find interesting

Who did he feel defended him the best at the pro level as well as was the most difficult to defend?

Although this has been asked many times, many ways—what was the biggest adjustment he had to make from college to the pro game?

What program did he face at the collegiate level that he felt was the most prepared?

Does he plan on coaching?

yes, I'm guessing he does

plan on coaching, based on the fact that as soon as he called it quits this past season he immediately started working as a volunteer assistant coach with the Austin Toros, the Spurs affiliate that plays its games in the Cedar Park Center . Got to work a little with fellow former horn Cory Joseph.

College or pro?

Any idea whether he has a preference? Would love to see him get on the Longhorn staff and eventually become the head coach at Texas.

One of the best college players I've ever watched

and a really great guy on all accounts.
