It is pretty remarkable that a group of wealthy men that had every reason to set up an oligarchy chose to cede power to the general populous (at least, what their contemporaries would have viewed as the “general populous”), and even further remarkable that this group of individually flawed, selfish men were collectively able think in the best interest of people other than themselves.

Which is a really long way of saying: “America, fuck yeah”
