Johnny Lam Jones - Running To Gold
It’s a scene that has long since passed into Texas Mythology.
In 1976, Johnny Jones, an 18-year old from Lampasas, Texas, ran to Olympic Gold in Montreal – but only after running into legendary status as a Texas State High School sprinter.
Until that spring and summer, Johnny Jones was known for the sport that is seemingly the birthright of all Texans – high school football. Jones scored 45 touchdowns in his junior and senior seasons for the Lampasas Badgers, and he had signed to play for Darrell Royal and the University of Texas. But first there was the little matter of becoming a state track legend and an Olympic Gold Medalist that summer.

Texas Longhorns WR Marquise Goodwin To Study Abroad This Summer
In London.
Marquise Goodwin won the U.S. track trials long jump with a personal-best of 27 feet, 4 inches on his final attempt, putting him on the Olympic team.
#tehmajor was happy.
@FlashGoodwin Slant for TD vs OU as a FR, KO Return for TD vs Ags as a FR, Holiday Bowl star, NCAA track championships*...you've been money!

Euro 2012: On to the Knockouts
We are in to the knockout phase of Euro 2012, with the quarterfinals starting today when the Czech Republic takes on Portugal. The final round of group matches went mostly according to plan (at least if you were well-informed), in terms of teams that progressed. France scraped through Group D, despite a 2-0 loss to Sweden, a result which sparked a locker-room argument. Discord in the French camp? C'est it ain't so!

U.S. Open Golf: "Hook 'Em Hossler"
Jim Furyk and Graeme McDowell begin the fourth and last round of the 2012 U.S. tied for the lead while Tiger Woods just doesn't care. Woods started his round bogey-bogey-double bogey and looks like his is having almost as much fun as he did on that Thanksgiving night a few years back.
Meanwhile 17-year old high school junior (and future Longhorn) Beau Hossler started the day actually believing that he could win.

U.S. Open -- Tiger Stalking
Know what I want for Father's Day?
I want to be left the hell alone.
I plan to play golf in the morning and watch the 4th round of the U.S. Open all afternoon into prime time. Is that too much to ask?
Someone by the name of Michael Thompson fired a four under 66 for the lead at the Lakes course at the Olympic Club in San Francisco (for decades papers simply kept the headline "Unknown Leads U.S. Open" at the ready for Friday sports sections) but Tiger Woods and a host of familiar names are on the first page of the leader board.

Lance Armstrong Formally Charged With Doping By USADA
The Texas legend has been formally charged with doping by the USADA and it could mean the loss of 7 Tour de France titles and the discredit of a figure who elevated U.S. cycling from a niche backwater to legitimate national interest, while inspiring millions as a cancer survivor.
In the 15-page charging letter obtained by The Wall Street Journal, USADA, the agency that oversees antidoping efforts in Olympic sports in the U.S., said "numerous riders, team personnel and others will testify based on personal knowledge" of Mr. Armstrong's alleged doping. The knowledge was "acquired either through observing Mr. Armstrong dope" or through "admissions of doping to them," it added.
The 15 page letter of charges is freely available for you to read and the contents are devastating.

Euro 2012: There Was Something In The Air That Night
The first round of group matches in Euro 2012 wrapped up Monday, with a few surprises: Denmark topped the Netherlands, the Ukraine beat Sweden and Fernando Torres didn't score for Spain.
Okay, maybe that last one wasn't a surprise.
