Texas Longhorns WR Marquise Goodwin To Study Abroad This Summer
In London.
Marquise Goodwin won the U.S. track trials long jump with a personal-best of 27 feet, 4 inches on his final attempt, putting him on the Olympic team.
#tehmajor was happy.
@FlashGoodwin Slant for TD vs OU as a FR, KO Return for TD vs Ags as a FR, Holiday Bowl star, NCAA track championships*...you've been money!

@FlashGoodwinI've watched you work and stay focused for 4 years. Good luck in London.

We are happy for Marquise and applaud his hard work and wish him well in going for the Gold. We also hopes he thinks about the Sooners a little every day. We'd like to see more of this in the Fall.
Hook 'Em, Marquise!

Really dominated the finals with two of the top three jumps
and I believe three of the top five.

Congrats to Marquise!
I’ll definitely be playing more attention than usual to the Olympics this year now that I have someone to root for.

No love for SRR?

While the accomplishment deserves notice it would have been a much, much
bigger story had Sanya not qualified than even her winning the qualifying finals. Her time did tie a meet record which as well merits note.
To be honest though the bigger story in women’s sprinting was the curious decision by Allyson Felix not to try to qualify in the open quarter after training all year for it, making what seemed to be a snap decision to try to quality in the 100M last week, her tying for 3rd place, and there be no process in place to split the tie for the third and final US spot in the women’s 100 metres.
Last I knew US Track and Field literally was considering a coin flip between the women.
Marquise had a very good shot to qualify for the Olympic team, had jumped very coming into the meet, almost did not make finals, and then dominated the finals.
Again, no knock on SRR, but in her case it is more business as usual as with MG it might be a coming out party for him on the international level in a few weeks.

I don’t think you read what I was responding to. I’ll help.

My point, Marquise isn’t the only Longhorn headed to the Olympics.

No, I read it and took it as someone who isn't a fan of track and
field now making the point they would watch something they might not because a Horn football player would be involved.
But fuck off as I never denied SRR and merely pointed out that she did what was expected while MG dominated the finals.

Let me rephrase that.
… now that I am aware of someone for whom I should root. What event does SRR compete in and is she any relation to srr50?

I’m still mad about that PF penalty. Goodwin basically just “stood his ground” and defended himself while the other guy ran into him. I bet that dude looks both ways every time he crosses the street now though.

The announcers
and their complete misunderstanding of the rule was also fun.

I don't what I'm prouder of
his accomplishment or Major’s tweets about it?
Oh, and just to make it official, I’m also proud of Sanya for not just this, but her many accomplishments in the sport over the years. Someone on the current staff (football and track and field) should go ahead and send a preemptive ofer letter to all of her and Aaron’s offspring. That shpuld be some srious talent.

Also should add that Trey Hardee
qualified for his second Olympic decathlon, finishing 2nd at the trials.
He’s a legit medal contender.
