Rich Rodriguez Takes Over At Arizona
Arizona Athletic Director Greg Byrne tweeted today that he had chosen Rich Rodriguez to replace Mike Stoops as the Arizona football coach.
Stoops went 41-50 in seven-plus seasons at the Pac-12 school. Rodriguez had turned West Virginia into a national program, taking the Mountaineers to two BCS bowls. He was hired at Michigan where he never fit in, and was fired after three years with a 15-22 record as the Wolverines head man.
Reports indicate that Arizona went after former Oregon Coach Mike Bellotti, but he declined the offer.

He will make a go of it out there. The high schools are loaded with spread offenses. Wonder if they would like to join the new Big 12-2?

Would have hired Leach myself, feels like a good fit. Rodriguez should be ok there.

I wonder if Ole Miss will give Leach a shot? If the Rebs don’t take Leach, makes you wonder if he’ll get another chance at a BCS school without doing some rehabilitation work at something smaller.

Rich Rod is a good hire for ‘Zona. His spread offense will work a lot better in the PAC than it did in the B1G. His problems in Ann Arbor notwithstanding, he’s a good coach.

Arizonza needs a coach who can do something about their horrible defense. It wasn’t Mike Stoops (who certainly knows a good defense when he sees one) and it ain’t Rich Rod, who doesn’t have a clue about that side of the ball.

Leach won’t get a job while he still has lawsuits pending.

I find it amusing that no school wants to have anything to do w/ Leach.
