I thought
coaches other than S&C could not participate in off-season conditioning. They showed Harsin, Searles, and Chambers leading drills. Am I wrong or did LHN just send Mack into RichRod’s corner?

We're not in the off-season
This is spring practice and considered part of the "playing season."
NCAA Division I Manual
17.1.1 Playing Season. The playing (practice and competition) season for a particular sport is the period of time between the date of an institution’s first officially recognized practice session and the date of the institution’s last practice session or date of competition, whichever occurs later.
17.9.6.4 Spring Practice. [FBS/FCS] Fifteen postseason practice sessions [including intrasquad scrimmages and the spring game permitted in Bylaw 17.9.5.2-(a)] are permissible.

Still excited
I have not grown fully accustomed to the new energy from our coaches. This still makes me giddy.

Because everyone in town shows up and has a great time!
There are so many games to play! Shuttle runs! Sled pushes! etc.

Its a Texas HS football thing
Popular among Texas HS to have these bootcamp style workouts prior to spring practices, and they are usually like-named.

My 600A ...
… is spent in hot yoga with 30-40 year old tennis/soccer moms - I think I win.
Every time I see one of these LHN features, I am blown away by the production quality. If the LHN ever “gets real” (meaning widely distributed at least in TX), I remain convinced that it could fundamentally change the landscape for the Texas brand - which is already pretty high.

The production values
are outstanding and the anchors/reporters do a nice job. I’ve worked in video/film production for over 30 years and I have enjoyed (when I was at out of town relatives) what I have seen. I agree it would only increase the stature of the Texas brand.

County Fair
Love it. Just love it. I mean the fact that I don’t have to do it and my favorite football team does.
I think the best part of these workouts for the coaches and the worst part for the players is the fact that it happens at 6 am. It is tough to work that hard that early but it forces the team to shift their schedules so that they aren’t out late getting into trouble. It works on so many levels.
I really love the fact that I see the team doing bear crawls. That was a staple of off-season workouts when I played. They were the most tiring thing to do but they really help you learn to move fast and work hard while staying low to the ground. I know the old Permian state champions teams did a lot of them too.

Hated the
bear crawls. I always wished Texas had wrestling when I was a kid. It seems like that would have been great training, especially for the lineman in football.

Yeah
They were tough. After bear crawls, we wrestled to take a break.
