Jeff Fisher > Vince Young
As far as Bud Adams is concerned. The Titans are letting Vince Young go.
The team put out a statement this afternoon saying that Young will not be on their roster next season. They can't cut him until Feb. 7th, and they said he is welcome to still come on the facilty to rehab.
So where should he go?

Easy. Seattle, Arizona, Minny, and Jacksonville.
Tier 2: Miami (Don’t like South Beach as a Distraction).
Hell No: Buffalo, Cincy (shitty ass ownership/franchise) and Washington.
San Fran would be the ultimate place, but if they hire Harbaugh I just don’t see him ever biting for a guy like Vince.

Vince and Adrian Peterson would finally team up if it was Minnesota.
They should have teamed up for three national championships if AP would have had his head out of his ass and not bet red instead of orange.

Minnesota would be great - teamed with AP in the back field, and Rice downfield. Look what Vince did for Kerry freaking’ Britt.

Minny, Seattle, SF or maybe Miami if they get a new coach…….I would hate Oakland. Vince may have to go somewhere as an obvious backup though and prove he’s serious about his craft. A reputation in the NFL, deserved or not, can sometimes be difficult to shake……

Jacksonville — I believe he needs a strong head coach - but one who can appreciate the skill set that he brings to the team. Plus he gets to play Tennessee twice a year, and we all know how Vince loves to get payback.

I think Arizona would have been a great fit, until this season. If they were able to keep Boldin, Rolle, & Dansby then that would be a great team for VY to join. Not anymore. AZ has lost too much talent.
I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing VY in the silver and black. They got McFadden, DHB, Jacoby Ford, Miller and a decent defense. Plus, Oakland would dig Vince Young.
I can’t believe Fisher gets to keep his job. In 17 seasons he has 5 playoff wins and his playoff win came in ’03. Hearing these NFL beat writers saying that Bud Adams made the right choice is making me sick. I have never seen a more mediocre head coach get media praise for doing nothing.

Fisher isn’t a shoo-in to stay. According to Adams, they are still evaluating the staff.
This is the best of all outcomes for VY. If they’d fired Fisher and kept him, he would have always had to deal with that monkey on his back from the fans and media. Now, for better or worse, he starts fresh.
Gotta wonder if Pete Carroll will want him? I’d bet on it.

Romo’s not serious. Baseball cap issues.
Bring Vince to Jerryworld. Let Garrett be his guide.
And VY and Roy can hook ’em horns all the live long day.

Anywhere where they understand that if they let Vince be Vince, they can sit back and wait on the Super Bowl trophies to start coming in. I don’t follow the NFL closely enough to know exactly where that is, although from a talent standpoint Minnesota is the obvious choice.
by nordberg on Jan 5, 2026 8:08 PM CST reply actions
It will take a strong enough head coach to let VY be himself and be the pied piper. Let him be the clubhouse leader.
But not so strong that he has to have a thumb on him. Who would that be at a franchise that needs a QB?
by derryl on Jan 5, 2026 8:10 PM CST reply actions
It would also mean that the Titans will probably be looking at a QB at the 8th pick, or if they move up or down in the 1st round. There are a few that will probably be available.
by derryl on Jan 5, 2026 8:16 PM CST reply actions
Dallas would be awesome but it would never happen. Can’t see Harbaugh having any interest in him in SF, but if he doens’t take that job. SF would be and Minnesota would be good but will they be gunshy on their second non-traditional QB’s for each roster.
by LosHorn on Jan 5, 2026 8:20 PM CST reply actions
Baltimore. Flacco is about two weeks away from flaming out again; I think he can be beat in training camp. All that team needs is a strong personality at the QB position, like Dilfer and McNair were.
by KB on Jan 5, 2026 8:24 PM CST reply actions
Miami with Sparano has potential. Brandon Marshall as a big-time receiver, Ricky to form the Horn welcome wagon, and the Wildcat offense with the mother of all Wildcats.
Minnesota has obvious appeal. Harvin, Rice, and Adrian could wreck shit. All depends on if Leslie Frazier wants Vince. The coach wanting him is key. Also would be good to be indoors on the faster turf.
Seattle is intriguing. I’m not too crazy about their talent, but Pete Carroll seems like the kind of coach who might be able to put his arm around Vince, love him up a bit, and then unleash the hell he still very much carries inside.
Oakland and Seattle would both offer the heavily watered down West divisions. Can’t comment on the Oakland situation too much without knowing the coach. Al Davis, clearly, is certifiably insane.
Agree that Harbaugh doesn’t seem like a VY guy.
Not to be a dick, but I hate the Jacksonville suggestion. I think that would be an awful place to end up. There’s nothing good about that team other than that they might end up in LA.
In closing, I would like to say the following:
VY career winning percentage: 63%
Jeff Fisher career winning percentage without VY: 53%
Fuck you, Fisher. Burn in hell now.

Have to think Carroll would be all over him. He was practically gushing over him not even five minutes after Vince epically pushed USC’s shit in. I bet Pete would love an opportunity to coach him.
by Karma on Jan 5, 2026 8:48 PM CST reply actions
FYI,
But Ricky just blasted Sparano and wants out of Miami. If Sparano is back, Ricky won’t be. Vince + South Beach = trouble.
Frazier is difficult to get a read on since he’s a defensive guy but spent some time under Andy Reid, so he’s been around McNabb so that could bode well.
Carroll is another defensive minded HC but certainly should have great respect for Young and Seattle desperately needs a face to that franchise now that Hasselbeck is on his last legs.
Arizona is mildly intriguing although Whiz is supposed to be a hardass, not exactly a warm and fuzzy type.
Jax would be a terrible fit. They have Garrard but Del Rio has one year to make a run to the playoffs or he’s gone and the team is a good bet to move down the road. Not very good stability for VY.
No idea about how Harbaugh would feel about the type of skills that VY could provide although he was a mobile QB himself and he did recruit and coach Josh Johnson at USD.
I assume people bringing up Dallas, Baltimore or the like are kidding. Why stop there, how about NO or Indy? Buffalo would suck, so would Cincy and Oakland but he may not have a choice. Hopefully this will inspire VY to mature a bit and kick ass……
by Patrick Bateman on Jan 5, 2026 9:12 PM CST reply actions
I am drooling over the prospect of VY to Seattle. Pete’s put a lot of energy back in the Seahawks. I was thrilled he picked Earl Thomas in 1st round last year. Hasselblech is gone (and has been for some time) and there’s never been any clear successor. I would love love love to see how VY would do with the Seahawks. They’re still missing a bunch of pieces, but Pete seems committed to building a winner up here.

I think Minny is an aggresive run club. VY could team up with peterson and tell adrian that he was a dum ass for not playing in Texas. Then show him how a championship ring would have looked if he would have played with Texas in the tenure.
Would be great if he landed in Houston. Not likely but would be nice to watch him play on TV. Hell… to be honest with you tony Romo is an average QB with talent surrounding him. Houston or Dallas for good thought. Reality would be minny vikings or the redskins.
Vikings or Redskins

Seattle or Minnesota are both good fits and possibilities for Vince to compete for the starting job over the summer. I like the players a little better in Minnesota and the atmosphere/fans/coaches better at Seattle.
Miami is fine. Everyone worried about south beach forgets that planes fly fairly regularly these days and young people with lots of money can get into trouble anywhere.

Posted this over on the Shag, in response to an ESPN dipwad throwing out this Jeff Fisher talking point:
Young is 30-17 in his five NFL seasons, but only 13-14 against teams finishing a season at .500 or better.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5993142
Wait a minute, how about doing the same analysis on the top QB’s? Here’s one:
Philip Rivers. 24-24 in the last 5 years against teams finishing a season at .500 or better, but only 16-21 in the last 4 years:
2006: 8-3
2007: 5-5

Wherever he goes, I’ll be rooting for that team, at least casually. Hopefully he doesn’t go somewhere I hate.
He needs to get out of the AFC South. Cincy is another team that seems to love Longhorns and their USC QB seems to be flaming like the rest of them (everyone knows VY>any USC QB, yeah, even Sanchez).
If someone wants him to sit a year or two, Philly would be interesting. A good year or so studying & tutelage & he could step right in for Vick, with younger legs.

Did some more digging using the “Record against teams with a .500 or better record in the last 5 years” metric that ESPN’s Adam Schechter passed on from Jeff Fisher’s fax machine, trying to disparage VY’s record by saying he was only 13-14 (as a starter) against .500 or + teams. Credit to Adams for clearing this up right away and giving Vince his freedom ASAP. I’m sure Fisher would have preferred (assuming he’s staying) to let Vince twist in the wind as long as possible to screw him in free agency, which is what I suspect the Skins will do with Donovan McNabb. McNabb is obviously Young’s primary Free Agent competition for QB starved teams.
Speaking of the skins: Just got fucked in the draft with Tennessee picking two slots ahead of them and needing a qb.
Vikings look like the most likely choice, but I wouldn’t rule out the Raiders, just cause Al Davis be crazy.
by Bateshorn on Jan 6, 2026 6:24 AM CST reply actions
The Raiders will probably hire OC Hue Jackson. That would seemingly take VY off their list. I can’t believe that idiot fired Cable.
I can’t imagine taking McNabb over VY at this point, though McNabb in Minny sounds like a possibility too.
I was actually hoping the 9ers would have kept Singletary around one more year because I think VY would have been a perfect match for them. Caretake the offense for the most part until he needed to do something with his feet. They could have stole a bunch of games like that. I think Harbaugh ends up there. Off subject, if the 49ers take the Simple Jack version of Eminem—Ryan Mallett, I’ll choke a bitch.

by magnusbleuveigner on Jan 6, 2026 8:50 AM CST reply actions
I have trouble believing it would be the Raiders - he’s not that, typical, big, drop-back, strong-arm passer that Al Davis seems to love.
Best thing for him, IMHO, would be Canada for a year (particularly is there is a lockout), so he could just work on slinging the ball around. Almost like a passing workshop. Not that he can’t throw, but NFL people seem to THINK he can’t throw. Plus, VY on an extra-wide field with more room to run if he needs to could only be a good thing.
by WanderingHorn on Jan 6, 2026 8:57 AM CST reply actions
Vince’s biggest problem is playing in the age of fantasy football. 25 years ago, he’d be viewed more like Elway; an athletic, clutch QB with problems with his head coach. Today he’s too stupid (based on a false Wonderlick score), doesn’t work (ignoring his huge improvements over the years), isn’t a leader (ask Kenny Britt’s towel or anyone who watched him in college), can’t throw (see below), and can’t handle pressure (see 1/4/2005, any game against the Texans, 24 4th quarter points against the Giants, the 99 yard drive, ect.). All of these are either racial stereotypes or code for “how does that help my fantasy team?”
VY 2010 (age 27): 3+/1 TD/Int, 8yds/att, 99 Rating.
Aikman, Brady, Brees, Manning, Montana, Rivers, and Rothlesberger all have similar numbers at 27. Elway, Kelly, Marino, McNabb, and McNair were all MUCH worse at 27. Steve Young was a backup and Kurt Warner was an Arena League stud.
Titans W/ VY win about 30% more games than W/O.
Brady= +30%
Aikman= +20%
Elway= +20%
Montana= +20%
And finally, Jeff Fisher’s career QB Rating=0. Victory begins and ends with VY.

I’m convinced that if the Texans had drafted VY, I’d be a life-long Texan fan. They didn’t, I’m left with mediocre Texan and Cowboy football, so I don’t even watch the NFL. Is there even a 1% chance the Texans make things right and bring VY home? Please?

I’m very relieved Vince is going to get a fresh start somewhere else. best thing that could’ve happened. Now let’s just hope he gets picked up by a team with the personnel and scheme to complement his talent. Minny and Seattle seem like good fits on paper.
As for Fisher, aka Dirty Sanchez, if he keeps his job it just proves Bud Adams isn’t serious about winning. All these ignorant media douchebags who are busy rimming Fisher’s ass are the most clueless sycophants I’ve seen in quite a while. The man is the walking, talking definition of Mediocrity.
Of course, with VY gone, I now hope the Titans never win another game, ever. And if they retain Fisher, that will remain a possibility.

Bevo,
VY’s biggest problem is VY. He may have had a passive-aggressive boss who wasn’t thrilled to have him, but to absolve Vincy of any accountability for his situation would be naive. It’s not his play that’s in question, it’s his maturity and professionalism.
Here’s a yahoo blogger’s take on possible destinations. Same ones we’ve bantered about…

Agree that Vince needs a change in scenery.
I won’t absolve him of all responsibility, because I think there were situations that he could have done a better job of handling. That said, Jeff Fisher clearly didn’t like Vince or want him on the team - pick your reason. Unfortunately, Fisher chose to handle the situation in a very manipulative and antagonistic manner - this isn’t what you ever should see from a coach, who presumably is more mature, thoughtful and confident in his position as the “boss.”
Here’s hoping that Vince can learn from his Tennessee experience and translate it into the success that we all believe he’s capable of achieving.
My top guess for his next stop was Oakland (just because I think Al Davis would like to have a game-changer at QB). I like the Seattle and Minnesota suggestions - Pete Carroll strikes me as a coach who is laid-back and confident enough to let Vince be himself and not feel threatened.
