When asked how you stop the Philadelphia Eagles, Rodney Harrison said, “Vince Young will stop them.”
I really want VY to light it up tonight.

Just what Harsin wanted to do with Ash last night — have a little success and get acclimated.
by srr50 on Nov 20, 2025 7:37 PM CST reply actions
Well shit, if the Eagles wouldn’t self destruct, they might get something early.
Vince is throwing with authority.
by srr50 on Nov 20, 2025 7:38 PM CST reply actions
Not good, but at least you can treat that interception like a punt with no return.
by srr50 on Nov 20, 2025 7:47 PM CST reply actions
^^ I love VY as much as the next guy, but that just cost philly 7 pts and gave nyg good field position. needs to be better.
… though it definitely was less pathetic than that pick Eli just threw.

No shit. Where is Ronnie Brown? Hall looks like a college walk on.
Eagles winning the LOS early on. With Jackson and Maclin out, VY needs to work the middle zone with Celek.

Ross broke up a pass for a VY INT. That allowed? Where da Texas love??
by UT07 on Nov 20, 2025 8:31 PM CST reply actions
VY just threw a TD pass to Steve Smith, who played for USC that night in January. Weird.
by t1climb1 on Nov 20, 2025 8:53 PM CST reply actions
VY gets a TD pass. Andy Reid had designed a really nice gameplan for someone who hasn’t taken a meaningful snap in almost a year, and Vince is doing a nice job of managing the game.
He has a couple of poorly thrown balls, but hasn’t really thrown an ill-conceived pass
by srr50 on Nov 20, 2025 8:55 PM CST reply actions
The longer the game goes, the more comfortable Vince looks. He had touch on that pass to Cooper.
by srr50 on Nov 20, 2025 9:33 PM CST reply actions
The defense is starting to play the run, opening up the passing lanes. He might make some hay here.

Aaron Ross, on the other hand is also representing well.

Coughlin just has NO confidence in Eli this week.

VY doing his best DA. How many interceptions is that?
by goldenbohls on Nov 20, 2025 9:44 PM CST reply actions
Ah, must be everyone’s favorite freshman QB. I don’t think he’s earned initials status yet, unless it’s GDDA.
by TexanNick on Nov 20, 2025 9:56 PM CST reply actions
Ok, no running game to speak of for the Eagles.
by TexanNick on Nov 20, 2025 9:57 PM CST reply actions
The Eagles have been just awful running the ball.
by DeepEddy on Nov 20, 2025 10:02 PM CST reply actions
I think it would actually open up the running game to have Vince run it once or twice. Probably not a good idea when you are thin at QB though.
by DeepEddy on Nov 20, 2025 10:02 PM CST reply actions
Their Oline is just getting DEMOLISHED on run blocks.
by TexanNick on Nov 20, 2025 10:03 PM CST reply actions
It’s hard to tell, but looks like Giants are selling out to stop run. Think they’ll force him to win with his arm.
by TexanNick on Nov 20, 2025 10:04 PM CST reply actions
Collinsworth is right, he scores if he cuts inside.
by DeepEddy on Nov 20, 2025 10:10 PM CST reply actions
And how often does a football fan get to say,“Collinsworth is right.”
by TexanNick on Nov 20, 2025 10:13 PM CST reply actions
Is there anybody out there that doesn’t think Vince is going to win this one?
by DeepEddy on Nov 20, 2025 10:14 PM CST reply actions
why does he have to play for philly? pulling for them is just wrong!
by Noonan on Nov 20, 2025 10:17 PM CST reply actions
I just don’t know how a results-oriented analysis won’t get him a fair chance to start somewhere next year.
by TexanNick on Nov 20, 2025 10:17 PM CST reply actions
and once again, let’s say it in unison, FUCK Jeff Fisher
by Noonan on Nov 20, 2025 10:18 PM CST reply actions
I still think Vince is going to win a Super Bowl with a 4th quarter drive one day.
by DeepEddy on Nov 20, 2025 10:18 PM CST reply actions
Noonan, let’s get one thing straight here. We are NOT rooting for Philly. We are rooting for VY. Philly has nothing to do with it. Agreed?

You realize that DA comment was a joke due to brainwashing from my recent reading of the KSU open thread, right?
Long live Vince!

I’m with you completely on Jeff Fisher, Noonan.
by TexanNick on Nov 20, 2025 10:20 PM CST reply actions
why wouldn’t arizona or minnesota or jacksonville or miami or . . . give him a shot?
by Noonan on Nov 20, 2025 10:22 PM CST reply actions
Must have been one of those jokes that’s unintentionally dead on point, GB. Lol.
by TexanNick on Nov 20, 2025 10:22 PM CST reply actions
I’m also pulling for them for the Cowboy’s sake, for what that’s worth. but I got ya.
by Noonan on Nov 20, 2025 10:24 PM CST reply actions
I would say Arizona wishes they had, Miami probably still will, and Jacksonville damn well should. Minnesota likes Ponder… Not sure why.
by TexanNick on Nov 20, 2025 10:27 PM CST reply actions
Arizona thought they had a good QB with Kolb (I didn’t think so, even before this season), Minnesota likes Ponder, etc. But the one that is totally baffling to me is Seattle. Carroll witnessed the VY show first hand, and cast his lot with Tarvaris Jackson? Or if you prefer, Charlie Whitehurst? Unbelievable.
I actually don’t even think VY is a top 10 NFL QB right now. I think he could be with good coaching and a good team. But I do think it is amazing that he isn’t starting for somebody, given the dozen or so teams in the league with QBs that range from bad to terrible.
by DeepEddy on Nov 20, 2025 10:32 PM CST reply actions
Is there any prediction when Vick will return? Has anybody said anything about that?
by DeepEddy on Nov 20, 2025 10:33 PM CST reply actions
I think Vick is week to week. I completely agree about Seattle. Just incredible to me. well, skippy gets what he deserves then. no vince isn’t top 10 at this point, but with the right support he could be. Fisher would have ruined a lesser person.
by Noonan on Nov 20, 2025 10:42 PM CST reply actions
VY is a winner. Hope he gets picked up by a solid team next year.
side note- Philly’s receivers are WEAK. Not once did they come back to a ball or try to compete for it.
Lets go Vince.
by PVogel on Nov 20, 2025 10:45 PM CST reply actions
Uneven performance, up and down but nails in winning time. So happy for vince, such a big game and he came through at winning time.
It is absolutely astounding to me, and makes me hate the nfl to think that washington decided on beck and grossman, seattle signed off on their shitty package etc etc and vince had to take a backup job, hat in hand.
Fuck fisher, fuck nfl group think, fuck the titans and everyone that passed on vy this offseason. Vy till I die.
by wulaw horn on Nov 20, 2025 10:46 PM CST reply actions
Tony Dungy got it right, post game. He said that, when the 4th quarter came, regardless of what had transpired the first 3 quarters, he didn’t want to see Vince Young with the ball in this hands. Vince. F’ing. Young.
by mpayne on Nov 20, 2025 10:57 PM CST reply actions
Dear Jonh Elway,
I would like to propose the following: keep Tim Tebow- let him run the wildcat for you. Sign Vince Young and make him your starting quarterback. Draft some more defense and a few wide receivers and you will win the west and totally scare the rest of the NFL.

Just think how good he might have looked if Maclin were playing.
by tdwalsh on Nov 20, 2025 11:33 PM CST reply actions
Considering Vince took zero snaps with the first string this year and practiced very little, He didn’t look too bad. Agressive receivers fighting for a ball would have at least broken up a couple of those interceptions. All in all he made mostly the right decisions when he did throw and looked like he had a good grasp of the offense. Add back the 60 yards he lost from Jackson’s taunt and he throws for 300 yards
by Zeithorn on Nov 20, 2025 11:39 PM CST reply actions

I thought this too. Any of the astute NFL minds agree or disagree? The first one the receiver made no effort. The fade to Cooper in the end zone was not a good throw but Cooper apparently tripped over his scuba flippers. Aaron Ross will give VY shit for that for a while, I assume.
Also interesting to me me is this ‘Tebow Classic’ meme going around. VY’s unorthodox and a runner, but a WINNER! like Tebow. VY can throw the ball. His motion is unorthodox but his NFL stats are really pretty good.
Anyway, happy for him.

kitesurfinghorn is correct.
I would love for Denver to embrace the spread zone read offense. I’m tired of all the talking heads saying it won’t work in the NFL. The football is sound, you even the numbers in the run game, unlike every other NFL offense that essentially concedes the QB. The only problem is the likelihood of injury to the QB, but hell you could pick up 14 stud back ups and keep running the O with little or no drop off. VY, Tebow, pick up Robinson next year, its a no brainer, you’re going after talent no body else wants.
Most NFL defenses are built around shut down corners and pass rushing D ends. Spread/ zone read effectively lessons the importance of those positions. The defenses are behind because they only prepare for you once a year. Denver isn’t even running a very sophisticated version of the offense and Tebow can’t hit the broad side of a barn and they’re still winning. VY would be awesome here.
by roach on Nov 21, 2025 12:53 AM CST reply actions
I believe Vince is definitely a Top 10 QB in the NFL if he was simply playing all year. Dude had a 98.6 passer rating last season and it had gone up in every full season to that point.
Then there’s that ESPN Total QBR that he was easily in the Top 10 in while playing.
Then there’s the winning thing.
by Huckleberry on Nov 21, 2025 7:27 AM CST reply actions
For all of the love that Tebow is getting for winning, you’d think someone with half a brain would look at VY’s W-L record and conclude a similar line of thought.
However, when Vick gets halfway healthy he’ll be back in and the Eagles will lose.
VY forever.
Hook ’em!
by uthookem on Nov 21, 2025 7:39 AM CST reply actions
The only reason the media loves Tebow and can’t stand VY is good ole fashion racism.
Joking. Sort of.
by Savage Henry on Nov 21, 2025 7:54 AM CST reply actions
If by racism you mean God-Publicity, then you would be right.
Think about it. If you were God, would Tim Tebow be your best effort?
by Philly Frog on Nov 21, 2025 8:19 AM CST reply actions
Savage…. just a thought but if you’re gonna say something really stupid on this thread you might wanna offer it with some semblance of proof…
On a separate note one of my sources with the Texans say they’re giving VY a legitimate look. Hummmmmmm now that would be interesting.
by jet on Nov 21, 2025 8:20 AM CST reply actions
Proof? They’re the same type of player except Vince has done it better, longer and is a better passer. The media is in love with tebow and calls Vince a bust every chance they get. Even if he blabbed on about god I don’t think they’d give him the credit he deserves. Ask your source with the texans about it.
by Savage Henry on Nov 21, 2025 8:24 AM CST reply actions
Oh geez. As a Cowboy fan it would be hilarious to have to bring in the Texans as my 2nd favorite team with VY as their QB.

Jet: Do your sources indicate that’s for next year? Makes sense if Texans assume Leinart will be successful and want to go somewhere to start next year.
by TexanNick on Nov 21, 2025 8:53 AM CST reply actions
I don’t think VY makes much sense in the offense that the Texans are currently running but I am open to him proving me wrong. Admittedly, Schaub hasn’t had to make too many tough throw this year. And VY could run play action off of Foster and Tate with the tasty additional option of actually scrambling if none of Kubiak’s army of midwestern TEs are open.
by Toadvine on Nov 21, 2025 9:45 AM CST reply actions
VY gets a solid B for his effort against the Giants, which grades on the curve to at least an A- given his complete lack of meaningful game snaps this year, only one week of practice starters’ snaps and the lack of the only complete receiver (Maclin) on the Eagles’ roster. He’ll need to rein in a couple of those poor decisions if he gets playing time again this year, but his velocity/accuracy looked good and as mentioned before, at least one of those picks hits the ground if his WRs give even average fight for the ball. Desean Jackson gives the least effort on underthrown deep balls of any WR I’ve ever seen - no QB should ever be ragged on for overthrowing him deep because even a slight underthrow is a guaranteed pick.
From the positives coming out of Eagles’ camp about Vince’s hard work and spirited practices this week as well as the result (division road wins are solid gold - I didn’t give a damn about the ugliness of the Cowboys/Skins game as soon as that FG went through in OT), I think there are decent odds that they let Vince start against the Pats rather than risk Vick’s ribs unless he has healed up really fast. Vince could really impress against the Pats’ mockery of a secondary, especially if he gets Maclin back.
Regardless of whether he starts again, I think Reid should have him come in at least once a half to run a zone read-heavy series. He gets results, would make DCs have to work even harder during the week and from a cynical standpoint would save hits on Vick (your $100MM man) and the Eagles aren’t going to shed a ton of tears if a backup that’s unlikely to re-sign with them gets dinged. I hope he actually reads/is allowed to read, though - he probably runs in for a TD if he keeps rather than handing the ball to McCoy on the one zone read they did call.
Cris Collinsworth was praising VY to the skies throughout the whole game, and while he’s occasionally hard to listen to he knows his stuff. Since basically our entire media structure is a hype-driven weathervane incapable of independent thought and slavishly devoted to propagating any meme that blows onto the scene, it hopefully won’t take too much ‘VY is a winner’ discussion to scrub away a lot of the FuckJeffFisher tarnish and further enhance Vince’s odds of landing a starting gig next year. Please, sweet baby Jesus - don’t let it be in Washington!

Can also ad KC to the mix of teams that need a qb. And Tebow won’t make a full season running the ball from the qb position. Vince went to Philly to clean his reputation. Vince really looks for the tight end so hopefully wherever he lands, they are solid at that position.
by kemit on Nov 21, 2025 11:04 AM CST reply actions
KC would be great. Would love to see him with Bowe and a healthy JC.
by Savage Henry on Nov 21, 2025 11:13 AM CST reply actions
Kemit, you may be right, but he is a damn big dude. My point is, treat the QB more like a running back than a semi-god and it changes the whole perspective on the position. There are quite a few dual threat qbs sitting on benches right now.

Paging the Jets. Why Mark Sanchez is still a starter beats the hell out of me. They’ve made it to the playoffs despite him, which says a lot about the talent they’ve got there. Add a good QB and… profit.

Rob Ryan’s recent comments seem to suggest that the Ryans have a Southern-aristocrat style disdain for non-traditional QB’s.
I suspect it’s fear-based, their blitz schemes aren’t as successful or simple against a QB who can move. I think they prefer playing traditional chess rather than speed chess.
by Nickel Rover on Nov 21, 2025 12:07 PM CST reply actions
When you look around at some of the garbage that starts NFL games at QB, it’s just mind boggling that a guy with that win percentage had to go and “redeem” himself anywhere. Just absolutely mind boggling.
by TexanNick on Nov 21, 2025 12:16 PM CST reply actions
Texas Nick, you can thank the likes of asshat Peter the Clown King for all the times he wrote Vince off. Then when Vince gets in the nightclub fight, King tees off about how Vince needs to get kicked to the curb for being immature. So, teams would rather lose than play a winner. Got it Peter. That’s a rationale way of looking at things. I guess some would rather lose the locker room by losing than perhaps a bad attitude that wants to win added to the mix. What you need is a guy like Collinsworth whom King respects praising Vince for 2 hours to wash away all the PK drivel.
by kemit on Nov 21, 2025 1:47 PM CST reply actions
Roach, Manning has played over 10 years in the league. Tebow will be lucky if he can run a full season. And once Tebow loses a step as he will after knee surgery his game is done. He’s got nothing else. That doesn’t mean there won’t be anomalies but they’re not the rule of thumb. And I’m not saying don’t run—Steve Young was a bad ass. I’m just saying that it’s an additional feature.
Really do like the idea of Tebow running the wildcat though and with Vince and Tebow in the same backfield, that’s going to be a tough defensive read. If Tebow can catch, he could make a great tight end too.
by kemit on Nov 21, 2025 1:54 PM CST reply actions
Kemit, agree completely about the asinine nature of some national NFL commentators.
by TexanNick on Nov 21, 2025 4:12 PM CST reply actions
I think drop back QBs are actually more susceptible to serious, season-ending type of injuries simply because they don’t see the hits coming. The problem with involving your QB in the run game is the minor cuts and bruises that start to add up over time. This inevitably ends up making the QB less effective in other parts of the game. The Harsin/Boise model of having a special package QB that comes in for 5-10 plays per game is a good one that I think could be effective in the NFL. Especially because that brand of QB is relatively common coming out of college and cheap to obtain. However, Miami is the only team that I can recall trying this.

I’m not sure if running qbs are more suceptible to injury or not. I do know it hasn’t really been given a chance. Even so with the number of colleges running that offence and the talent available right now and for the forseable future, somebody needs to give it a shot.
The rookie salary cap helps make this even more realistic
