BCS Championship Game - Around SB Nation
I see you, Nick!
Thanks to our own Nickel Rover for breaking down tonight's game below.
I am excited to watch this game. No boycotting here. I think NR's soccer match comparison is a good one. I get the notion that a few other schools should have "gotten a chance" but I do think these two teams are clearly the best.
Prediction: I think Alabama will win tonight, LSU will be awarded the AP title and the entire world will explode in a rapturegeddon of SEC circlejerkery. At least we get to finally watch an SEC lose the BCS title game.
Here's what some of our SB Nation blogs have to say.
Our Bamablog, Roll Bama Roll, identifies what the Crimson Tide must do better against LSU this time around if it wants to win The Game Of The Week of The Century, Part II: Revenge Of The Slive.
Our BayouBengalBlog, And the Valley Shook, has not one but two posts previewing the big game, one telling readers what to watch for from an Xs and Os standpoint, and one trying on the underdog role for size.
S! E! C! S! E! C! Omnibusblog, Team Speed Kills, also pulls double duty, saying in one post that tonight's rematch now seems like it was inevitable, and looking in another at tonight's cast of characters.
Lastly, the SB Nation Alabama Vs. LSU Preview: What We Can Learn From Round 1.

I’m pretty interested in this game, and I suppose plenty of people are being honest about boycotting the game, but I doubt that all of them are.
Reasons to watch include the following:
This is the last college football we will see for quite some time.
Regardless of the crappy system, these are probably the two best teams in the nation, at least Huck’s matchup analyzer seems to think so (albeit by a smaller margin than most seem to think.) This LSU team is looking to put itself in the annals of college football with the likes of 95 Nebraska.
Satan’s spawn is looking to win his third title, I want to watch him lose.
The Big 12 refs should make for some better passing, and a more offensive game.
It’s college football folks, in 2 weeks you will be pining for it all over again. This should be a great matchup, and there’s really not much else on tonight.

I will be watching although not happily. I merely want to see LSU stomp Bama. I’m tired of hearing about Saban and the whole “can’t beat Saban when he has more time to prepare” line. I’d say Saban looked pretty vulnerable in 2009 when our team started running the game on them. I will always wonder what would have happened.
I still think, even if LSU loses, that LSU is the #1 team. Their schedule was unbelievable and to come out of that monster undefeated is historic in my opinion. We shall see…

I hope the game goes into 4 overtimes with the winning points being scored on a safety because an offensive lineman was called for holding in his own endzone. His team will have lost 74 yards in that series so they snapped the ball from their own 1 yard line.Final score 2 - 0 either team. In all the previous overtimes all the FG tries that weren’t blocked were from over 55 yards. As painful to watch as The English Patient, just like the last one. Let the SEC! & the national media spin that & explain how we watched the best football of all time.

I want Bama to win by a field goal in OT or for LSU to stomp them 55-0. Either way the system looks ridiculous and I get to watch a team I hate lose in devastating fashion.
I’ll watch, but I’ll want there to be something better on.

Alabama and LSU are the best teams that money can buy.
Prediction: LSU beats Alabama 2-0.
Fuck those cheating bastards. Wish they could both lose.

Funny how when $ec plays a boring game with no TD’s it is due to amazing defense but when the Big 12 game ends with 70 combined points it is because of poor defense( It couldn’t be due to our offenses being good). When Arkansas played K state they held k state until the second half and then K state ended up scoring pretty easily. Two years ago, in the Rose Bowl our freshman second string qb who was unable to score in the Big 12 scored twenty plus points on Bama’s defense. This proves that Big 12 offenses can score on $ec defenses and apparently the $ec offenses can’t score on their own defenses. Conclusion, Big 12 defenses better than given credit for and the $ec offenses are much worse than given credit for.
I didn’t watch the game, I watched reruns of Hogan’s Heroes. That was much more entertaining.
