Freddie Steinmark movie in the works, apparently
I'm told by acclaimed author Jim Dent that his book about the life of former All-Southwest Conference Longhorn defensive back and cancer victim Freddie Steinmark — "Courage Beyond The Game,'' which sold more than 100,000 copies — will be made into a movie. There's a chance Taylor Lautner of "Twilight" fame could play the lead, with Mark Wahlberg taking the role of Darrell Royal. Matthew McConaughey could be involved. A handsome young actor that goes by the name 'nordberg' is in talks to portray James Street. Screenwriter Angelo Pizzo ("Rudy" and "Hoosiers") will handle the script, and Terry George of "Hotel Rwanda" fame will direct.I would be all up in arms about Dirk Diggler playing Coach Royal, if I could think of someone better. Josh Brolin seems obvious. Maybe Costner, just to hear the attempted accent.

That's great and all but when is your biopic coming out?
I hear Fincher is interested.

I thought Fincher's music video for "Express Yourself"
was loosely based on nordberg’s life.

hmmm
…with Mark Wahlberg taking the role of Darrell Royal.
Matthew McConaughey could be involved.
These statements both strike me as funny.

The best we can hope for is Glory Road
Maudlin, with occasional bursts of watchability.

less fabricated racism in this one would be cool

You mean UK fans weren't all waving Confederate flags!?!?
Not sure why they had to fabricate when the real stuff was sufficient.

Wahlberg wouldn't be the best fit to me
I did some sifting through Google looking for actors roughly in the same age range of Royal and Steinmark at that time. Based on that, I think I’ll nominate a few people as options.
First choice for Royal would be Jon Hamm. My next choice would be Aaron Eckhart. I also had a couple out of the box picks, but I doubt a studio would greenlight the movie with either.
As for Steinmark, Lautner might be the best option but considering he’s been showing off his physique in all the Twilight movies I don’t know if people will buy him as a young man that was around 5’9" 160. I still made him my second choice because there didn’t seem to be a lot of known options with a decent look, age, height, and weight profile.
I think I’ll go David Henrie as my first choice. Don’t know much about him honestly, but he fit the profile I was searching for best. From his bio, he likes hockey so perhaps he’d be tough enough for the contact scenes to skip the stunt double.
