Observations:
- The people carrying the ball were stronger than the people blocking for them. Is that good? Snow can rep higher, but apparently didn't get it done. I'm not a big bench press guy, but it's a decent indicator of upper body strength. The NFL doesn't care if you can do 40 reps, but they want to see a minimum level
- Howard - 10 reps with 225. Then opts out of further testing. Exhausted after that herculean effort, perhaps? Five years in our S&C program
- Chiles showed up just to do a vertical leap. That cracked me up. Actually, he met for face time purposes and to talk to teams about getting a roster invite - wish him luck
- Cody no-showed an All-Star game, but still has a shot at a NFL career. I'm hoping he didn't no-show because he was 270+ at the time
- Robinson tested well and I know he'll interview well
- Acho had a torn quad and could only hurt his stock if he performed
- Gideon tested OK, but he doesn't pair that 4.6 40 with quickness and he's not a punisher in run support
- Give or take a few 1/10s of a second and some maturity, Christian Scott and Tray Allen left here as about the same athlete when they arrived. Did Ahmard Howard actually get worse?
Be excellent to each other.

Love the image of Chiles walking up, jumping once, dropping the mic, exiting stage right

Jumpin' high is what I do!
Entourage places cape around his shoulders like James Brown.

10 reps of 225 isn’t even that good for a gregory gym rat. Its fucking pathetic for an athlete at his size with 4 years lifting weights. Was he sick? That seems impossibly bad. Tucker could probably do that.

Tray Allen
pretty low bench number. If someone who grew up in the MadDog regime can’t impress on the bench press that tells me he didn’t take offseason drills very seriously. Charlie Tanner had big bench press numbers and he wasn’t an NFL-level athlete.
Gideon sub 4.6 shocks me. Does this mean that 40 times don’t translate to playing speed? ;)

Nothing wrong w/ Gideon's straight-line speed
His change of direction and tackling mechanics are not elite

Tray Allen...
now I understand why the guy never became what we hoped he would be.
Coaches bear some of the responsibility but at some point, the player has to do some stuff himself. Allen clearly was allergic to the weight room.

agreed
Given that the MadDog regimen was all about building huge, bulky dudes who can bench press a truck. If he didn’t even become that, if not a good OL, that speaks to his personal commitment to excellence.

I think it says something of these guys just didn't love the game.
If you don’t love it you aren’t going to do the little things such as that extra time in the weight room.
Karma would seem to indicate that Malcolm Brown will end up being the greatest defensive tackle in the history of UT football because to date the best overall recruit from Brenham might be the mullet.
