Definitely a reach. As were FSU and Louisville. It only makes our plans to dominate this fictional new league all the easier.

Jerry Jones could fuck up anything. I wouldn’t feel comfortable handing the reins over to Jerrah until the tenth round, maybe eleventh.

So, am I crazy or could Cal (academics, minor sports, bay area media market) and Rutgers (pretty much pure media market… but what a market!) be good pickups soonish?

Definate anti-Texas A&M bias here. Nobody dominates the non-revenue sports like the Ags. If we are not a top-10 school I dont know who is.

Best available: Miami, Tennessee, A&M, Stanford, Arky, Wisconsin? I’m boycotting Auburn. Too bad Washington and CU are down.

Miami is a tough call, right? They’re simultaneously one of the worst and best programs in the country. Stanford - weirdly - is similar, but for different reasons.

Miami gives you the tail factor, and Florida recruiting means they’ll be back soon. Academics suck. Stanford gives you all other sports, occasionally football, and best academics of any FBS school. And besides the schools listed, the pickins are already pretty slim - big knocks on everyone else.

Our primary competition appears to be Team Speed Kills, who drafted Alabama, Oklahoma, and Nebraska with its first three picks. All football powerhouses but the conference falls well short in academics, hot tang factor, media markets, and secondary sports like basketball.

Value picks for the next round: Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Auburn, Aggy.

Other justifiable picks in round 4: UConn (men’s and women’s BBall), Colorado, Oklahoma State (wrestling), Cal (academics), Washington, Iowa, Illinois, Miami.

Head-scratchers in round 4: Louisville.

Oh. Wait.

What about Virginia? High academics. High quality tail. Some success in big sports with high success in minor sports. Seems like a mini sleeping giant for a conference.

Good call on UVa. Much better pick than Va Tech.

Keeping with the hot tang/large media market, ASU is the no brainer pick next. Something has always bothered me about ASU athletics, though. I think it is the hideous maroon/yellow and Walt Disney cartoon devil. I just can’t watch them and think they are serious about competing on a national level.

USC maybe? You’d own Southern Cal. Not a bad place to own from a talent perspective.

Just saw USC went 1st round (seems high). How bout the other USC? Nothing like the hot tang wearing skin tight Beat the Cocks tank tops.

Next two picks, take Standford and Tamu. Wisky would be a good consideration.

I guess I’m old enough to remember when it was almost impossible to separate USC and UCLA, as well as the pre-Carroll years, which weren’t so hot for USC.

I’m not convinced that USC will be forever dominant in that area. If that’s the case, they don’t bring nearly as much to the table.

And the NFL may come back someday. That will hurt both USC and UCLA.

Washington has serious potential. Nice campus, decent football tradition (DKR holla), no water rights issues, big media market.

The best of the rest, IMO: Wiscy, Tennessee, UVA, A&M, Stanford, Arizona — sleepers BYU, South Carolina, Mizzou.
