AT&T; U-Verse won't carry LHN anytime soon...per Big Cigar
From the guys over at Inside Texas, it was pointed out in the latest edition of Mondays in the Humidor that the Big Cigar recently had a conversation with an AT&T; U-Verse executive. Unfortunately for Longhorn fans, the conversation didn't go as well as we would all hope. It was made pretty clear that AT&T; has absolutely no plans to carry the Longhorn Network now or at anytime in the future without serious changes in the enormous price tag that ESPN has saddled around its fledgling neck.
Take it for what it's worth. Just passing along this tidbit of disappointing information. I'd suggest anyone with AT&T; U-Verse jump from this sinking ship and head for the white sandy beaches of another service provider. Calling and sending in service requests will do nothing at this point. I've already started the process of switching to Comcast. Hooray for west coast football!!! F&@# AT&T.;
Be excellent to each other.

I was just at verizon
The guy was despondent when I passed on the $200 phone with a 2 year contract. I was fortunate that another family member bought a brand new phone and hated it, going back to the iphone giving me the phone. Contracts give me the heebeegeebeez.

Y'all who are in Austin/Dallas/SA especially
need to check Grande’s availability in your area. They’ve recently upgraded their network and while here in Austin it’ll take another year to get full citywide coverage the internet speeds are now the best available, period (110 Mbps). And they carry the LHN in the basic package and the NFL/Red Zone networks in the extended (if you play fantasy football, RZN is your new crack; they show nearly every red zone possession in real time). For an Internet-active sports fan there’s simply no reason to stick with Time-Warner if Grande’s an option for you.
Plus, if you’re calling up TWC or any other cable company and asking “can I haz LHN?” and taking “no” for an answer without switching carriers, congrats, you’re now a data point in favor of no deal. Some of y’all gotta actually switch carriers like I did.

Sadly, most of us in the Houston area have no alternative.

I call UVerse once a week. It makes me feel like I’m doing my part. Not sure why you wouldn’t switch (or plan on switching at the end of contract) if you had the option.

Tired of this bull$h!t...
I get that ESPN’s price tag is the issue holding off wider distribution from all the various service providers. It’s why the major providers are colluding together to try force the price down. This latest “rumor” about AT&T; has just made it impossible to sit by and do nothing. Canceling my service with AT&T; is the only way to demonstrate my dissatisfaction.
For me, it’s also become an issue of sub-par overall service from AT&T.; My signal strength is garbage. My internet routinely freezes up, and both of my boxes require “power cycling” at least twice a week. I HATE Comcast. I HATE AT&T.; But Comcast has now become the lesser of 2 evils. I can finally use the WatchESPN app on my iPad and enjoy the pageantry of west coast football. HOORAY!!!

GRANDE coverage
I would suggest calling Grande directly to determine availability. Their website sucks. I went all of last year without LHN, only to be greeted by a Grande salesman at my door after the season ended. He told me that they have been in the area for YEARS!
So I waited until a few months before this season and told u-verse to eff off and signed up for Grande. Their system is so messed up the person on the phone told me that it wasn’t available at my address. I told him repeatedly that someone from grande had been to my house and I know for a fact that it was available.
After about an hour, a supervisor had to manually enter my order into the system. I’ve had LHN and a new TV for about two months now. It’s a regular boner city around here.
Call Grande. Be Persistent. Or just move.
