NFL Combine Lagniappes
As you know, the Horns sent four guys I was trying to figure out how they did and while looking came across this cool toy on NFL.com.
Warning: carve out a few minutes in your schedule before you start playing around with this.
Obviously the 40 time has become sort of NFL Draft early rounds shibboleth and we can point to players where it does matter and ones where it doesn't but the things below are so much fun, I had to share them with those of you who hadn't already seen them.
Robert Griffin III is fast. We already new this. But now we can watch him run his 40 against Cam Newton.
For this heat we're going to bring Andrew Luck into the mix:
For the final heat we're going to bring in Rich Eisen and have give him a 10 yard head start:
This has been today's The Internet Is Awesome moment.

No shame for Rich.
I could have gotten a 20 yard head start and would have been beaten. If I had an eHarmony profile, next to physique I would put “Intellectual.”

True
but the speed with which they pass him at the end is freaky.

True?
As in “True, it’s a generally accepted fact that you’re a slow moving fatass, but LOOK HOW FAST THEY PASSED HIM?” ;-)

Luck
beating Darron Thomas and Keenan Robinson in the 40 was fairly surprising and I knew luck was athletic.
Interesting that we didn’t see RGIII pull it down for more 50+ yard runs. I guess his penchant for throwing 50+ yard bombs instead is what has the NFL scouts drooling.

Luck at Stratford
I watched Luck play in high school and he ran a pretty good amount. He was actually really fast for a high school QB. I knew he could sling it but I left watching him play in high school way more impressed with his overall athleticism than anything else. Probably because I expected him to be a prototypical pocket guy.

Not trying to start anything
but the fact that we had a 4-year starter not even invited to the combine is pretty fucking ridiculous.
But, moving on…

Gideon?
Is that really the 4 year starter you’re talking about? “You serious Clark?”

First time I've ever seen "lagniappes" in the plural
That itself is the kind of lagniappe one expects from Barking Carnival.
p.s. I could beat the guy in the suit. (Maybe).

Saw the 40 video on NFL Network a few days back
I’ve been looking into the combine performers as well. Although, I was comparing and contrasting running backs. Next up, I think I’ll look into receivers. I’ve heard a lot of people were disappointed with Wright and Sanu numbers, so I want to look into them and get an overview of the group.

And we remixed the video of this with music here.

So the speed difference is greater between RG3 and Newton than Newton and Luck
